Fair call. He was all we had for a long time. But he did cost us a semi final spot with a ridiculous head but.

Note it's my favourite players, not the best. He was not one of my favourite players.

I thought Horrie would be more controversial.

As a kid supporting the roosters at that time, he was the only thing to be excited about, was devastated when he went to dragons, but we did get Jeff Orford who I almost put in the team over offiah, always remember him being the only try scorer when we beat manly 6-0.

I recall we swapped him for Walker so it was not that bad. He could play though.

Note I did select his lunatic wing partner.

not meant to be but surely he’s still a fav Rooster to some. I loved his time with us. To me, his longevity within the game and his results , not just with us but overal has him up there with some of the top players imo.

I love the guy but feel he only did a few seasons with us? (Without being a Cronk/SBW).

In contrast, Freddy and Keary are probably better players who have played more games with us. Keary also has the dual premierships, which is a factor.

He had more time with us than SBW and Cronk. Actually more successful with us than SBW.

A couple of more to add that I never understood why the left at the time were Blacklock and Chikka Ferguson... both quickly became fan faves and went on to have good careers... I believe they just didn't like city life ???

I remember an old bloke who had ties to wests telling me that chicka tried out with them in 73 but went back to the bush because he didn't like the big smoke. He was quite old by the time he came back for the jets and started his career.
He was one of those magical koori players with that snappy left foot step that played a massive role in the raiders maiden premiership.
I don't think I've seen a player beat the first defender as regularly as chicka did.

Plenty of other players easily make the cut perhaps the most deserving one for me was Andrew Walker, I loved watching him play....

I think Latrell & Hodges have been the best 2 centres that the Chooks have had.
