Geez we’ve had some hard hitters over the years …
I went for lads who LOVED the club and were proud to don the red, white and blue …
Other honourable mentions- Fairfax, Royce Ayliffe, Cleal, Rads and Mark Protheroe….and last but not least , the “unbreakable” Brett Papworth

its interesting that a guy who came go us and took us to 9 repeat 9 finals series in a row, is much loved ????ive never hidden my love of freddie and imo doesn't get the amount of respect he deserves. imo an immortal and 10 x the player lockyer was.

as much as i love teddy, cronk , sbw ....they are not in the same postcode as b fittler as a player .

and morley yea...would you wanna fight him ?

              I remember that game fondly.

Haha that could explain the earlish retirement , the poor bloke was probably burnt out.

Poor fella some blokes have no luck at all.

I love the guy but feel he only did a few seasons with us? (Without being a Cronk/SBW).

In contrast, Freddy and Keary are probably better players who have played more games with us. Keary also has the dual premierships, which is a factor.

A player I remember liking a lot was Ian Barkley... Only played 81-83 before being poached in the purge by Manly......! But have some vague memories of his step etc at the Sports Ground! My brother and I used fight over who was Barkley in our backyard matches! Was also fond of Jeff Masterman... Terry Fahey became a quick fan favourite for his stint with us...

A couple of more to add that I never understood why the left at the time were Blacklock and Chikka Ferguson... both quickly became fan faves and went on to have good careers... I believe they just didn't like city life ???

People don't remember that Ferguson really hit his traps with us before he went to Canberra. I even think he debuted for Australia from our club.

I seem to remember Ferguson and Terry Fahey doing really well for us. Fergo did well at Newtown as well.
