  • Anasta

We missed the shit out of him.

His size, his experience, his boot, his leadership, all of it.

We were completely outmuscled in the halves without him.

Souths look good for the season. They're big, aggressive and well-drilled. They had us well beat last night, particularly in the forwards.

Sure, a win's a win but I'd be taking more hope out of that game if I was a Souths fan.

Not one kick out on the full. No bullet passes to player's heads. No cripplingly slow runs down the left side.

Put it this way, Anasta plays, Cordner doesn't.

Right now, I know who I want to be in the second row.

Its 2012 not 2011. Anasta will be in the halves.

We missed Braith last night. Anyone who says we didn't needs to wake up.

His bombs were sorely missed. Every time we got 20-30 out and put a bomb up it always came down with our chasers five metres away, Anasta boot means they come down with our chasers contesting.

His leadership was missed as well, his ability to fire up the boys. He is one of the most passionate captains we've ever had. Morbs did a good job but there wasn't enough talk from him, Anasta delivers that in spades.

We also missed his hole running. In all honesty, Morbs running one side, Cordner the other and then having the threat of Anasta holding a pass and running himself gives defences a lot to think about, especially when you throw in Pearce and Mortimer and their speed and stepping.

We missed Braith. Plain and simple.

            You'd play Mortimer over Anasta?

You'd be up for fielding the smallest halves in the competition?

              I never said that.

Did you even read my post?

              14. Mortimer

Souths had a lot more ball than the Roosters with a 8-3 penalty count until late in the game.

If I was a Souths fan I would not being taking hope out of this game. I have NEVER seen a team with an 8 point lead let in 2 converted tries in the final 3 minutes.

                  We missed him big time.

Like it or not Mortimer isn't a first grade halve.

What a ridiculous thing to say.

How do souffs take more out of it than us? They played ok and got beat.
We played like shit for 70 minutes and still won.
I'd be filthy if i was a vermin fan!

I direct you to the Broncos of the 90s.

                      Allan Langer - 5 foot 5

                      Kevin Walters - 5 foot 7

Gone are the days of the Fittler style forward sized 5/8th, as the Roosters proved last night it's become a quick. small man's game. That's why Smith kept Anthony Mitchell on the field for the last 20 minutes.

John, Walters and Langer were good players Mortimer isn't.

I've been one of the Anasta critics on here but he is just a much better player than Mortimer.

They played all over us in the second half.

A stellar last five minutes does not change that.

I'll take the win, but the more impressive team lost.

Fitzy, we agree to differ on Braith's talent.

If MortJu gets a fair shot then he'll be a very good player.

I predict he'll be in the 6 by the end of the year.
