main points for those who can't be bothered watching it

    - Mitchell had beaten Mortimer to bench utility until Anasta was injured
    - obviously happy with result but plenty to work on from first 77 minutes
    - had another dig about penalties and the fact we didn't receive any 10 metre/ruck penalties till 68 minutes, said he is going to work during the week about becoming as perfect as Souths were for the first 70 minutes.

Interesting that Mitchell had won the spot on the bench.

We have to stop whinging about penalties. We have a massive weakness in the ruck and we have been getting murdered there for years other teams know it, we know it and the refs know it.

Yes, we do have to work on it just as Smith said. The strange thing is that this "massive weakness" of which you speak seems to have been with us regardless of what players we field and what coaches we employ. It not only manifests itself in lopsided penalty counts against us, but in sudden, inexplicable improvements in the discipline of teams we play. Teams that get pounded in penalties one week play us and stop standing offside, don't slow down the ruck etc.

        It is a mystery.

There were a couple of blatant ones by Crocker and their number 14 which would have been called against us but not the 70 minute perfect Bunnies. We can not buy a discretional penalty to save our lives and it send me cuckoo tbh, it's just way too inconsistent and a a ****ing lottery with the current pool of pricks in pink.

And the reason why that is, the still controlled NRL HAS A SET AGAINST NICK POLITIS.

We will continue to be raped up the arse by the ref's as long as Uncle Nick is our benefactor. Because of his hand in creation of the independent board.

I thought Mitchell was poor tbh. Morts offers more fom the bench if he isn't starting. I thought he had a very solid game.

No, a Rooster's cap (for today at least, I won my bet)

Honestly Souths were not offside all night. Their fitness was far superior. If I was ref i would not have given one penalty against them being inside the 10. Yet there was some blatant ruck penalties that should have been given. Most of those were called Easts knock ons which was frustrating cos you know when Dave Taylor drops the ball he's guaranteed a penalty.

I think the issue is that for a large block of time, penalties are not given to us, then when all seems too late the penalties start flooding in (like last night, 3 in the last 10 min).

it is a question i ask always, how can an opposition team be so diciplined for so long then conceed 3 quick penalties like that??

I don't like this tactic of referees evening out the penalty count, if it's a penalty, call it, for both sides.

Set-up that JWH try at the end.

I'm a fan of him taking over Jake in the 60th-65th minute.

It pains me to see Friend out there playing the lock role - just let the bloke have a rest.

I agree. Would prefer a utility like Morts on the bench, rather than a specialist hooker like Mitchell. Considering we have an 80 minute player in Friend, we don't need another specialist

                              Well put mate.

It's the penalties we don't get that kills me weekly.

And it's so true, it doesn't matter who our coach is or our players are, other teams seem to magically become almost perfect against us.

Our discipline can improve and our ball handling has been ordinary for years but to battle near perfection on a weekly basis is mind-blowing.
