not sure what Flannoo is supposed to do - its his first year of full time NRL -has played 28 games mostly this year - Cleary almost 100 games plus 5 SOO and Luai 40 games and 6 tests for Samoa- takes several years for a half to be confident to be a game manager and skilled in half back play- do you think Cronk or any other half was the full package in their first full year of NRL - Needs to bulk a bit - unfortunately Cronk hasn't been able to be at training for a hands on role - bit hard to do this via zoom

I am not convinced that Lam is the answer to be honest.
Goal kicking is crucial.MRR or Rabid
Some people believe supporting the Roosters
is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed
with that attitude. I can assure you it is
much, much more important than that.

he’s supposed to have a crack mate. 0 runs for 0 meters in a final game is something we’ve all mocked in the past. It is detrimental for him to share the load between Keary, like I’ve pointed out earlier we are becoming too easy to defend against we are left heavy our right side is non existent in attack, if it’s not up to teddy or Keary we won’t look threatening at all.Originally posted by King Salvo View Postnot sure what Flannoo is supposed to do - its his first year of full time NRL -has played 28 games mostly this year - Cleary almost 100 games plus 5 SOO and Luai 40 games and 6 tests for Samoa- takes several years for a half to be confident to be a game manager and skilled in half back play- do you think Cronk or any other half was the full package in their first full year of NRL - Needs to bulk a bit - unfortunately Cronk hasn't been able to be at training for a hands on role - bit hard to do this via zoom

Flanno is like Joe the cameraman he can't bowl , he can't throw. He can't run and he can't tackle. He gets spotted in defence and I don't think he is up to the challenge mentally.Originally posted by King Salvo View Postnot sure what Flannoo is supposed to do - its his first year of full time NRL -has played 28 games mostly this year - Cleary almost 100 games plus 5 SOO and Luai 40 games and 6 tests for Samoa- takes several years for a half to be confident to be a game manager and skilled in half back play- do you think Cronk or any other half was the full package in their first full year of NRL - Needs to bulk a bit - unfortunately Cronk hasn't been able to be at training for a hands on role - bit hard to do this via zoom

Flanno is not a great runner of the ball, but given his age and experience he is a solid enough half, though not ideal.
The calls for Lam are a knee-jerk.
He has talent, but is a below average kicker and organiser.
Flanno, for all his faults, compliments Keary much better

I am not necessarily calling for Lam. I am suggesting that our last two premierships have been won on defence, and that a stronger defender would be a better option than needing perfect goal-kicking to chase down a big score.Originally posted by Steakface View PostFlanno is not a great runner of the ball, but given his age and experience he is a solid enough half, though not ideal.

Two tries directly targeted Flanno. A third try Kikau was able to get a quick play the ball with Flanno and Crighton in the tackle.Originally posted by King Salvo View Post

I can't see it changing anyway. As a minimum I hope Robbo rewatches the way we protected Cronk in the 2018 final, and realises that Sitili not the player you want in the most critical defensive position.

Can someone please show me any of the basis for why people keep calling for Lam to get a shot? I've seen nothing but pedestrian footy from him whenever he's been in first grade. And if we are worried about Flanno's defence well maybe watch Lam's efforts during the 60 point thrashing by souths.
No flanno in the team tonight and we would not have been in a position to make a comeback as we'd undoubtedly have missed 2-3 of those shots out wide.
The same 17 should be named next week (unless Friend is fit - which would beg the question why he didn't play tonight in the first place). They are our best 17 for better or worse

Sitili is our worst defending forward. Has NFI where to position himself. His attack has also been average for a month. Living off that one game where he had a blinder. If he teams up along side of Flanno next week we are gonski.Originally posted by dice View Post

Surely SBW replaces him.

I'm pretty sure that's what we'll see happen.Originally posted by BUDDY View Post

One area we aren't short on options is the second row.
Sitili has the talent to get up to scratch in time. But not good enough to start in a finals series.

He lacks awareness. Watch how he runs out of the line to take nobody, and the lack of awareness to unplug the hole he had just created.Originally posted by BUDDY View Post

Then last week he doesn't move up with the defensive line which forces Flanagan to take his man. Then watch his lack of awareness that an overlap had been created and that he was in position to shut it down. Note we were still in the game at that stage.
