I have been following the boys since the late 1960's.
I have always said that Bob Fulton was the best player I ever saw play.
Whilst acknowledging my bias, Teddy has taken over that mantle. The best I've seen in over 50 years.
I am interested in other people's opinions.

It's amazing how someone's footy can go to another level when they're in a good system.

More importantly, a system they are proud to be apart of.

I was born in 89, so I don't have a great deal to go back on but Teddy is hands down the best all round attacking weapon I have seen.

I'd go as far to say he would kill it in the NFL and we've seen the likes of Hayne and Holmes fail as running backs, but Teddy has the perfect running style and posture for it.

My opinion?

Teddy is a rare player - an absolutely outstanding fullback. Clearly the best player in the NRL at this time imo.

However, i wouldn't say the best in 50 years. In terms of fullbacks alone, i'd have Slater as his equal in terms of modern day fullbacks.

Having said that, in the No.1 jersey I would put him ahead of some big names Lockyer, Hayne, Inglis, RTS and Mini as far as modern day fullbacks are concerned.

Comparing him to Fittler, Fulton, Johns, Meninga, Thurston, Smith etc is very very difficult, because the skillsets are quite different. I wouldnt mind Teddy being gioen a run at 5/8 at some stage to see how he goes.

I've been a fan and watching them since 74...
Teddy is clearly a gun, but my favourite all time Rooster (and arguably the best IMO) is Freddy. Different position I know, but if the game is on the line, he would be my go to, and for that alone he's my best.
BUT, absolutely love watching JT do his thing.

at one stage although young I thought Latrell would be that guy for Easts he was on his way then he became Judas Fatrell....Yes I would agree Teddy is right up there with the great Artie .Still the foundation is always set up the middle and My mate the grub JWH is my best unbelievable for 7 years or so when he is off the field is about the only time opposition scores ...he is great .

haha, hard to compare a retired player with one who hasn't finished their career yet. still teddy's last 2 years were probably as good or better as any couple of slater's years.

teddy's passing is good but probably not at the level of the best halves, like freddy and joey but his running game and his defence is right up there. we don't see much of his kicking game.

i couldn't say he's the best player of the last 50 years at this stage but if he has another few years like the last few then he'll be up there.

How do you rate the best player . Probably Freddy but what about Minni . Unstoppable at fullback . Morley made a massive impression in every game , hard bastard . Fitzy all ticker , not the most naturally gifted but fantastic for our club. Shane Webke took the last hit up the same as the first ,flat out. The King Wally overrated in team games but come origin the bugger broke our hearts so often . Thurston , loved watching him even know he was position. Cliffy , Sterlo . Think we just need to face it , in my time and I'm 58 we have been blessed to see some great past players and a lot like Rads Jwh etc coming though now

League continues to produce Quality. I’ve seen some brilliant fullbacks since 74 including Fairfax, Eadie, Brentnall, Locky, Slater, RTS, Inglis, Bowen, Andrew Walker (genius) and Mini. Even some fill-ins were good like Mullins and the Shu. Teddy is so good but it’s too early and unfair to compare him so early in his career. In a few years he will be at the top.

Easts favs include: Beetson, The Axe, Harris, Freddy, Fitzy, Fairy, Walker, Morley, JWH and I’m sure I’ve missed many.

This is only a few of the reasons why this is such a fabulous sport.

Already been said.. Freddy Freddy Freddy.. Teddy will be considered and all time great but Freddy thru the club on his back and carried it up the hill to the road we current walk on.

Freddy for me easy, never missed the finals on his watch. go to player. great defence, attack, step, leadership, teddy has a bit to go yet but he is my current fav player but Freddy and Joey still ways ahead for mine. complete packages .

Teddy is a true champion but so was Sheck. If Sheck had of stayed with the Chooks he would have been as good as Teddy IMO but I’m more than happy with Teddy.

Todd Carney 2010 season was exceptional .
Dally M winner that year , IMO for silky skills he was as good as anyone to ever play for the roosters.

but as a 1 off special , never to be repeated. longevity, durability, toughness, skill are huge attributes.
