I hate rep round.

It's boring.

It's shithouse.

I don't get excited about the haka. I don't get excited about women's rugby league. I don't get excited about seeing minnows play.

I miss the roosters when they don't play during the season. And it's not like many of our players are getting a well-needed rest. Most of them are playing.

Two byes was bad enough. Now we have this garbage.

Can't wait for it to be over.

I’m glad rep round is on this week because I’m overseas from Monday till Sunday and would’ve missed any roosters live game very selfish of me but I’d rather watch my beloved play live and be able to clap and yell and cheer in person.

The future of rugby league isn't guaranteed and having a healthy rep calendar helps.

People talk about Origin being a revenue raiser - their problem being? If the game isn't making money, there will be no game.

Rep footy gives players something to aspire to and fans who don't follow successful teams a bit of the action.

That said, I got more joy out of us beating, say, Canterbury last week than any rep win.

Yeah my mates find it bizzare i care more about 2 pts for the Chooks than any Origin win. You are correct that fans of average teams enjoy Origin more....just like I did when Easts struggled in the late 80's early 90's and Salvo made the blues, I was so excited as if i had made the team

As Robbo alluded to in a recent press conference after the next TV deal could see something like a rep month in June where they would play the 3 state of origins over 3 weekends and sprinkle an international schedule in the middle for other nations (and hopefully a weekend off before resuming back to NRL)

I would support such a proposal as I think it sets time aside for rep games (origin and the growing influence of internationals, especially for islander communities) without putting players out of their teams mid season and lowering the standard of the competition for that reason...the majority of the squad gets a break to recover from injuries without missing games - sure there would be more/the same work load for rep players but these games only make them better players in the long run. Tough rep games are perfect practice for finals/late season footy with their faster pace.

Sure it sucks not seeing the chooks play, but the trade off I think is a better quality competition

As for the current situation of having one rep round weekend...its just one weekend off (with a bye you miss out on two). Not too big of sacrifice for some growing areas to get attention, players being happier getting to represent their heritage, and new revenue streams. Better system then internationals being played on the same weekend as NRL and teams pushing their players to back up if they could

I like it.

I pitched some ideas to Dave Smith years ago when he was ceo that have come to fruition. Having competitive internationals with class squads is huge boon.

It also highlights what AFL doesn’t and can’t have. The then VFL clubs didn’t want to release players when State of Origin was first invented and look where it ended for them. Just a regular home and away competition.

I also wonder if people would like it more had NSW not got their backsides belted for over a decade.
