  • Robbo pride

Love the guy, hope he coaches Easts for decades and brings us many premierships.

BUT - I think for him to really get to Bellamy/Bennet echelon of coach, there needs to be a little bit more humility brought into his coaching and he needs to be willing to make adjustments if certain tactics don’t pay off.

    1. Winger on bench, never want to see this as a fan ever. Don’t understand it, not sure what it does for the rhythm of the team. But Robbo being Robbo I’m sure he’ll pull it out again soon.

    2. Aubusson to centre - nullifies the attack of the side he plays on, doesn’t bring out the best in him. Essentially makes our attack one sided and much easier to predict.

    3. Resting players - it’s backfired so far this year, I think it’s a pretty bold but disrespectful move. Latrell and angus wouldnt have made a huge difference today but we could have played people the right positions and would’ve kept a few players down on form out of the team (I.e Collins)

melbourne as an example find ways of winning those sorts of matches, Penrith were bloody awful but we seemed to just hand them the game due to too much inexperience and being way too slow in attack

Don't know about Robbo pride. As in Robbo's stubborn or has an ego? He seems a pretty humble bloke to me.

That said, I'll give you 1. and while I won't necessarily give you 2., I'd have had Iku playing in the centres and Aubo starting in the 2nd row.

As for 3., it's too early to say. If we come out of Origin without Origin overhang, then Robbo will be proven right.

The WCC stuffed up our off-season prep and Robbo has opted to rest players mid-season. We have the points on board. It is all under control.

If Collins plays the ball correctly in the second half when we got a roll on and Liu doesn't drop the ball in our first set after we scored in the second half , than we win the game.
Whether we had a winger on the bench or Aubusson nullifying the attack or resting players had little to do with our stupid mistakes which cost us the game.I thought our new hooker played well and allowed Radley to play in his correct position which was a plus. Hall had an ok game and he seems to get better each week and our pivot had an average game for his initial game for us.

Why don't you write Robbo a letter. I'm sure he will appreciate your advice and follow through on your ideas.

              Ease up mate,
that trip out the m4 must have taken it out of ya.

This forum is for airing grievances about Easts.

Maybe you should try Penthouse forum for a change

I wouldn’t swap him for Bellamy or Bennett. He’s well and truly in their echelon.

                Hold your fire until October.

                  This post is illogical.

Bennett played Denman Kemp off the bench for a full season.

Both have used backrowers in the centres Tohu Harris, Kevin Proctor, David Stagg, Tonie Carroll etc etc

Both have rested players throughout origin periods.

I think the only reason Robbo puts wingers on the bench is to annoy the sh!t out of the cronkpen.

M4 was closed mate. Didn’t go that way.

Of course. How many comps did Belly and Fossil win in their first six years as NRL coaches? Some people are so fickle.

Probably why they had no issues in letting him go coach the dragons.

I have zero issue with having a 3/4 on the bench. It's honestly the most stupidly picked apart selection policy on this forum.

If Ikuvalu started at centre with Aubusson on the bench no one would have batted an eyelid. Yet what really is the difference? Aubo would then be the backline injury cover plus an extra backrow option which really isn't that needed when we had Radley for that.

                            Prop x 2
Backrow x 1 (In Rads who can also cover hooker)
And a back utility to cover for injury

                            It makes perfect sense.
