Guessing there's other stuff we don't see though. Like if you are growing up as an indigenous dude with an assumed future involving nothing but poverty/drugs/failure in Kempsey, knowing that Greg succeeded (and made millions) must be massive.

End of the day I forgive him for choosing QLD. Much deeper things were at play and as he said it... he just ticked a box saying he was interested in playing for QLD. The fact he then became THE story of QLD and Melbourne's success (and survived the subsequent media coverage/criticisms) is massive. To kill off poverty, racism, media scrutiny, crippling injuries (playing full seasons without MCLs...etc) and mental health challenges is huge.

IMO he's more a figurehead than anything. Nobody's saying he's a saint... he beat on his Mrs and got done DUI. However, he paid the price for both and moved on with his life. Not saying we should forgive his crimes or celebrate them. However, in a way I think they make him more human. He wasn't perfect and you might not be either... but that doesn't stop you from giving it your best and proving doubters wrong. IMO this is significant when you've grown up with the odds all stacked against you.
      great post.

He was the greatest of his time, debuted at 18 and stayed at the top for over10 years, missed a year in 2017 with a devastating knee injury and came back. If he was a Rooster we would all be calling for him to be an immortal. The wife beater stuff is crap too. He was never convicted and married the girl and they were together for 10 years, always came across to me as a humble champion.
I’m not suggesting Inglis was guilty or innocent of domestic abuse but whether he married the girl had absolutely nothing at all to do with it. The highest rates of abuse between men and women occurs between couples married or in a relationship..

I hate GI but only because he played for Souths and QLD, but I'm sure he is a nice person. Not everyone is perfect. He made mistakes, I made mistakes...many normal GOOD people make mistakes. He was a very good players who played for teams I didn't like at all.

Latrell will end up being a better player than Inglis ever was.

Come back in 10 years and this statement may have some credibility. Until then it's waffle. Not that there is anything wrong with that. Waffle is good, but it's still waffle.

It may take ten years and as I said, he will END up a better player. Can you comprehend the English language? Methinks not so much. Latrell has produced some magical moments already in his short career and if he continues to play like this for for the next ten or so years, plus his goal kicking, he will be even better than Inglis in the long run. There, I said it again.

How on earth will Inglis be an Immortal?

I've been following the game for only 20 years and he scrapes in as at best the 10th best player I've seen.

The likes of Freddy, Joey, Locky, Slater, JT and Smith are way ahead of him. I also regard SBW as a much more complete player. I have Cronk ahead of him as well; as I do Jason Taumalolo and Sam Burgess.

And in a few years I believe Tedesco and Latrell will overtake him, too.

Inglis at his peak was an awesome athlete and a devastating centre. But he hasn't been much good since 2014 - so that's 4 or 5 seasons of average footy. And in his Storm days he'd often drift in and out of seasons a month at a time; often warming up for Origin.

In terms of consistency he's just not in the same league as some of the players mentioned above.

Has it been a week since he's retired cause I'm over all these mushy tributes and usually each footy show has to have one?

I certainly wouldn't have said no to him if he chose the Roosters over South's when he left the Storm on his day he was utterly unstoppable, can win you the game on his own. On GI and his questionable brushes with the law how many of our players have done the same or worse ? The list is long.

Please don't start this petty crap. you said he WILL end up a better player than Inglis was, you didn't say you THINK he will , just that he WILL, that's why I said you need to come back in 10 years, because no one will know until then is that too hard for you to comprehend? I hope you are right, and if Latrell ENDS UP having a more successful career than Inglis has had then he will be a champion, and I hope he does it at the Roosters, and heaven forbid not at the Rabbitohs, , because if he goes there then plenty on here will think he is not so great.
