  • Captain Angus

I know it's only a trial and the team is full of kids but I still think it says a lot about the high esteem in which Angus Crichton is held that he's been made captain.

It's easy to see why when you look at what he does off the field. He really does belong at the Roosters and not the Vermin. He must feel like he's been rid of fleas since coming over.

And if he remains a Rooster for long enough I can see him being our next captain.

Oh and he'll have an awesome season. The man is a gun player.

I love Angus but seriously look at the team we have named. 1 first grade starter and 1 bench first grader

      I mentioned that.

But it's still a mark of respect for a 23yr old 1st gamer at the club to be given the captaincy.

Even though the scoreboard is pretty irrelevant during trials, this could end up being a great boost for our "next in line" guys and our clubs overall confidence.

        Manly with everything to lose.

And yes onya Gus...looking forward to seeing him in RWB.

Yeah, and taking him to England even though he probably wasn't going to play, also says a lot.

Our next captain? Maybe, but too soon to say. Boyd's only 26, so it's possible he'll be doing it for the best part of another decade. Of the other guys, at least Latrell, Teddy and Keary might be options, too.

            I forgot Boo Radley.

            They'd make great co-captains.

Jeez, seems like he's been around forever ....

Boyd's achieved so much already, years of captaincy ahead

I thought we got that boost against the Tits last year?

I know it's his first game for us, but he didn't impress me at all. Yes he's coming from shoulder surgery in the off season, but very substandard. And Butcher probably played himself out of a bench spot. Crap quality game overall.

Tedesco was a bigger name than Angus last year and he had a shocker for many games early last season but he came around to be the best FB of the year. What I like about Angus is that he gives it all and with the guidance of Trent and Fitzy AND with Cooper on the field, I expect he will be one of the best in the comp. Give him time.

He doesn’t mind the contact either. I like him.

I think the expectation on Angus is a little high, He's a good player and could really add another point to our attack but he's not going to be one of the best players in the comp, he's got a lot more to prove before he can be considered in that category. Tedddy came over a much more complete player, Angus is still developing.

We haven't had a consistent right edge 2nd rower since SBW left, I'll be happy if Crichton can lock down that position, buy into the standards this team sets in defence and add a different point of interest to our attack. That for me would be a successful season.

You are a hard task master. It’’’’’s his first game back from a major shoulder clean out and played in a team of nuffies. He will be a giant on the right edge inside Keary, Cronk and Radely.

Robbo will bring out the best in him. Not to mention that he will be playing outside of Coops. First hit out and he was a bit rusty. He will develop and show huge improvement as the season progresses. Don’t expect him to gel and be at his best for the first few games.
