  • Cronk broken scapula....

Cordner mentioned this during his interview with Freddie after the game. It seems Cronk played the entire game with a fractured scapula.

Truly one of the most amazing efforts ever by a player.

The vision of Cronk on the bench after the game, in clear distress, was inspiring (and a little upsetting as well).

    What a legend.

    i'm thinking why?

Coops has won so many Origin series. A couple of legitimate premierships. Two DallyMs, a CC Medal. At the end of his career, and he comes to Easts. Breaks his scapula. Shouldn't be playing. But puts up with the pain (and mental pain of it too) to help the Roosters become premiers. He could have easily missed the GF, but he decided to play. He didn't owe us anything, but he still decided to endure all that so we could have a premiership. Legend

I can hardly imagine what was going through his head just before the end of the game. To me, it wasn’t just pain but a mix of emotions as well. I reckon he was extremely torn mentally after playing such a thinking role on the field then the realisation of beating the team he was part of the DNA with for most of his career would be tough. How do you balance the joy and the sentiment? What a champ tho!

Shows how amazing his influence of simply being there on the field is IMO. Very few players can determine the result of a game by doing 9 tackles, 1 pass, 0 runs and 0 kicks. Really does push the question of who the real immortal is outta the 'big 3'. Given he beat the other two while seriously injured...

Now he wakes up lying next to a hot chick who's also ridiculously successful, wearing an extra premiership ring that Smith and Slater will never get. He's also fulfilled multiple major feats in:
        - Playing for another club (and winning!!)
        - Being soooo confident that even an injured him (at like 10% - lol we all thought it was just some muscle/ligament damage!!!) can pull apart a team that has been on top for the last decade, who punters were all tipping to win. A loss woulda SERIOUSLY questioned his credibility (particularly if he has forced Robbo to play him injured). Massive risk he took there.
        - Pushing through the pain barrier. Muscle tears? We have needles for that! Broken scapula. FUK OFF!!!! And Cronk didn't even talk about it after the game (unlike Burgess who made a couple of broken teeth the showcase of the event). That woulda hurt sooooo much and yet as the true professional he hid it all the way through and didn't mention it after the game when grilled. Fuk he's tough.
        - He has proven all of the above to NSW. Slater and Smith will forever be known as grubs (loool it was so funny to see Slater near the end...while arguing with the ref he shaped his fingers like a gun and pointed them at his head to do a fake 'shot'... so fukking disrespectful!!! Any guesses who Munster learned his behaviour from?)
        - Raising serious questions about the suitability of the incumbent Australian 5/8 to represent his country.

Who would have thought it possible for one man to become such a Roosters legend in only one year. But Cooper did.

What a gusty performance by Coops. Definitely will go down as a Roosters legend.

Watching the replay now he took a couple of painful blows to the arm. And a few of those tackles on the Melbourne big men could set his recovery back.

Saw a post match interview with him and he looked like he had nothing else to give. Literally broken and busted he bleed for easts.

Cooper I take back all the abuse I have given you over all the years while you played for the cheats and qld. Mate after that win you'll have my respect forever

Look up the term "role model" and you'll surely see a picture of Cooper Cronk beside it.

What extraordinary class, mental strength, courage and will power. He is and forever will be a Roosters legend. Even if he retired tomorrow.

His tackle of NAS was incredible. A one armed man throwing himself in front of a giant. But how about the Roosters coming from everywhere to help him! What camaraderie.

A Band of red white and blue Brothers!

What he did for us out there the last two weeks was nothing short of heroic! What a friggin' class act, star, inspiration. He wasn't out there for himself last night. He didn't need it. He was out there for the rest of the team and for us, and for that we will always be grateful and he will always be a club legend!

What Slater said to the ref at that point was ''you have a brain, use it!'' What a twat! Something Smith said in the on-field interview was revealing as well. He said he would get over the loss in a few days and then thought about it for a second and said a few weeks. Bottom line, we wanted it a lot more than them. TR and his team had a 'no excuses' mentality going on and it showed. I am more proud of this team than the 2013 one. We certainly did it the hard way.

                          Good point.

He had a lot to lose by playing. He'd got us to a GF, broke his shoulder and could have ruled himself out and no one would have questioned him for a second.

If we'd lost last night, some might have said that he should never have played.

                            Legitimate legend.

It’s the toughest performance our game has ever seen.

I questioned his influence at the beginning of the year. I said I had my doubts about his ability without Smith and Slater. I'm not too proud to say he proved me wrong.

Fair dinkum, something for the ages, still in shock.
