Where there's smoke there's is fire and I'm sure Nick and In Trent We Trust (except his bench use) are pondering about such a deal and Cooper and O'Brien might be a carrot for the young Munster... But hey, what do I know? 2 running halves? Preposterous!

    Thanks for posting Fletch.
We will still need an organising player with a good long kicking game and prefers to play on the right side of the field and pass left to right. Keary perhaps but that is a huge risk seeing he likes to play left side and has a good shorter kicking game but doesn't have even have the range of a Cronk (who is not very long but accurate) let alone a Pearce.

We will also need to upgrade players like Latrell, Manu, SST in the coming years (noting Radley has extended recently longterm). Plus the rumours about TPJ or Marty Tapau (either one won't be cheap nothwistanding Napa may go).

Still think the 4 Fullbacks Cronulla analogy (If you were smart enough to pick it, I doubt it now lol) is appropriate if we are going to spend $1m on a fullblown running 5/8 to replace an organising halfback.

Anyway stories perpetuated by Rothfield are more often enough false and from reading the forums and of course Munster's management has nothing to lose by talking to all clubs including the Roosters once they can in November and the Roosters gets more clicks for media outlets so lets run with the Munster to Roosters talk.

Being linked to our "glamour" club is all about his mngt extorting as much as they possibly can out of Melbourne or getting the Cowboys to pay up if they're that desperate to have him return far north.

I merely said that Munster is a very good player and it wouldn’t hurt to consider him. That’s all. You went on a rant about cap, 4 fullbacks and whatever. We all have our opinions and if you want me to respect your opinion then respect mine... no need to write an essay about it. I have read enough peer reviewed articles in the last 4 years and I don’t need to read a lot of waffle anymore. Cheers!

Agree Munster is a top notch player but not a good fit for the dollars we would have to shell out....

You lot are all off your head if ya don’t think Munster wouldn’t be good for the Roosters. The guys a gun.

And dont take the moral high ground either, they’re footy players. All of them.
              ..it’ll be interesting to see

Bottom line, when Cronk retires we will need a halfback not another running 5/8. Don’t want to end up having halves like the Broncos have.

I know Munster's greatest asset is his running game but he has also done a lot of the last tackle kicking for the storm this year and he has a very good temperament under pressure.
Most people thought Morgan was a running 5/8 but when jt went down for the cowboys last year he stood up and was outstanding at halfback.
I've got no doubt a Keary /Munster halves combo would work

                    Completely agree.

Remember his first Origin game when you're supposed to be nervous/hesitant, he killed it. Absolute gun and would love him here

Hypothetically, in 2 years time he’d probably do some growing up by then and if he was considering signing with us, you’d have to think that Robbo, Cronk and Co would be telling him to ‘pull his socks up’.

NRL clubs line up for Munster

                        AUGUST 21, 2018

CAMERON Munster has become the most sought-after player in the NRL, with seven clubs, including the Titans and Cowboys, targeting the Queensland Origin star.

The Courier-Mail can reveal Munster is on the Titans and Cowboys’ hit-list, with both clubs registering interest in bringing the Melbourne ace and Rockhampton product back to Queensland.

The Storm are keen to open extension talks with Munster but the Maroons ace has indicated a desire to test his value on the open market from November 1, when he can field formal offers.

That opens the door for a raft of NRL rivals including the Cowboys, Roosters, Parramatta and Titans to put pressure on a Storm club which faces outlaying $1 million annually to keep Munster in Melbourne.

It is understood the Titans’ recruitment-and-retention committee have identified Munster as a key target for 2020 and lodged preliminary interest with his management.

Titans coach Garth Brennan concedes the club may struggle to win a bidding war for his services, but believes Munster’s signing would be a multifaceted coup for the Coast.

“I am massive fan of Munster,” said Brennan as his side prepares to face the Storm this Saturday.

“We can’t make a formal offer until November 1, but if Cam is in the market, we’d like to have a chat to him.

“There is room for us to afford Munster down the track and there’s no doubt a guy like him would be fairly marketable as well. That’s something to look at for our club. He is an Origin and Australian representative and one of the best players in the competition.

“The reality is it will be hard to compete against the Roosters and Cowboys. Usually, if the Roosters want someone, they get them, but Munster is a super player and could bring something to our club.”

The Roosters loom as a major threat to the Storm. The Sydney glamour club will have salary-cap space with Cooper Cronk likely to retire at the end of 2019. Melbourne assistant coach Adam O’Brien will link with the Roosters next season and Munster is a huge fan of the man who presides over the Storm’s attack.

The Cowboys believe Munster can bring spark to their backline, but the Storm are determined not to lose the 23-year-old once groomed to be the next Billy Slater.

“We are very confident of retaining ‘Munny’ — he is an important player for us to keep at the club long-term,” Storm football operations chief Frank Ponissi said.

“He and his manager have been very open and transparent and we are aware of the interested clubs.

“The demand for him doesn’t surprise us at all. It’s a compliment to him.

“Munny has indicated his very strong desire to stay in Melbourne so the onus is on us to make him a fair and reasonable offer.

“However, Cameron has also told us that he does not want to discuss his future at all until after the finals. We have never seen him so focused going into the finals and we are very excited to see him like this.”

Brennan believes the Storm are in the box seat to retain Munster.

“With Billy Slater retiring and Cam Smith likely to retire next year, Melbourne will have money freed up and I’d be very surprised if they let Munster go without a fair fight,” he said.

“It’s going to be hard for him to leave Melbourne. Cam will be a huge part of their future, but we can only ask the question and we will.”

A reserve grade bench utility and a an ordinary half, with their 5/8 gone to the Merge? LOL

Beoncos seriously shouldn't be in the 8 and I hope we slaughter them this week so that the Tigpies still have an outside chance of punting then. Drongos were given a free win against us last time around. Hope they get their medicine for fielding a cr@p team with a coach who is past it. Sutton... YOU DONT HAVE TO SWAY THE PENDULUM!!! Bellamy quite butt hurt that 7 teams are in the hunt to sign Munster, didn't actually sound at all confident the Storm will be able to keep him.

could you imagine the Storm in a couple of years without Smith/Slater/Munster.
