  • Fergo

He was massive again last night.

    His consistency has been great.

He is always the first to put up his hand to to do the first carry out of our end when we’re under the pump, and it’s always an energetic hard carry that makes ground.

    Every game. All game.

His finishing has also been first class. Power, skill, and finesse.

I don’t know of a winger in better form over the first half of the comp...

I hope we re-sign him asap.

Yep he was fantastic last night. And, another conversion or 2 from the sideline

Anyone know the penalty count. I'm still stunned that the 50/50s seemed to go our way all night.

Apparently we still have 800k left and it was odd that we weren’t using it to sign anybody but I think it’s becoming more and more clear we need to use that money to RESIGN FERGO ASAP!!!!!!

We must re-sign him he is absolutely essential to our team.

And even though he has the odd error he’s still more then worth it. Also interesting statistic I saw about him, he actually has one of the lower error rate per run percentages of our entire side. So his high workload really outweighs his errors.

I think it's 800k left in the current year. That gets swallowed up by Crichton next year assuming no one is released. But hey Im all for finding a way to keep Fergo, He may have that error in him, but It's hard to criticise anyone who makes an error when they are giving 100%. And he has been our best (along with Radley) all year.
And where did that goal kicking come from ?

You can use left over cash in the year to front load contracts so that it’s not wasted.

9-3 to us. I cannot remember such a one sided count in our favour.

Combined with their error rate it gave us an easier passage. They couldn't mount pressure through consecutive sets. We did and it showed. It's one of the reasons JWH was able to eat up over 200 metres. Lottsa ball and tiring defences. Not to say he didn't earn those metres with 40 tackles stacked on top. And Fergo another great game, with superb finishing and leading metre eater in the NRL.

Good to see the post by Roostersrule2 about Fergo's lower error rate when compared to game involvement. Although he is a nervy character in defensive situations with swirling balls etc he has also taken some great catches under pressure. I think a lot of the criticism stems back to last years finals where he was played throughout with a shoulder injury and may have been needled up. The Cowboys targeted the ball on his carries, although his first loss was a definite rake and should have been our penalty. The second one was a great hit onto the ball from O'Neill. He still got more metres than any of our forwards and cut a few of their raids short, coming in off the wing.

This year Fergo has lifted his game and is one of our most dangerous attacking weapons. He has been the difference between winning and losing - in our favour. And he's now forming good combination with young Manu. He's one of our key strengths so far.

Penrith are a very spoiling team - they have Maloney after all. I think Greenbergs new rule edict may have helped too. Ref’s have been blowing penalty after penalty for repeated infringements which has created a lot of stop-start games which definitely does not suit the Roosters style that Robbo talks about. We were able to get a flow on and continuous momentum downfield.

i was just about to start a thread called Fergo but you beat me to it. Isn’t he just awesome? It’s as if he’s sending a very, very loud message to both Origin and Australian selectors that they are embarrassing themselves by not selecting him. He’s just too good. Sure he makes mistakes but are they going to drop Cleary and Maloney because of their stupid errors? Especially Maloney who keeps throwing intercept passes. Keary is easily better than Cleary. I don’t know what they see in Cleary just because they beat st George.

But Fergo is the most in form winger in the comp and it’s stupid that Freddy has left him out. But to our advantage. 2 doubles in 2 games and 100% kicking average too. He’s proving to be hard to leave out off any rep team.

If Latrell's injury forces him out of game 2 he just may get that call up.
