I agree but this year in particular the refs have made clear that they will penalize this offence. No point giving away a certain 2 points when trying to prevent 1. You just have to make sure you are at least close to square when rushing out. Jake was 2 metres to the side of the guy playing the ball....

Fair enough can't argue with that. I'm not a fan of Jake and think he hurts us with his lack of ability in attack and poor contact in defence but I can't knock his lack of effort.Originally posted by Cockadoodledoo View Post

its a fair assumption i guess. But then you would have to assume that the reffs would have penalised lodge for his play the ball before the try or the attention that Andrew Mccullough gave the kickers (not wrapping his arms around the kicker) or maybe even a sin bin for a broncos player after he was lying in the ruck after we made a break or maybe policing the ten metres. These are all things that at the start of the year were being penalised heavily but were missed the other night. i applaud Jake for getting out and being aware that the field goal was on, its a shame that the other blokes switched off and the defensive line was all over the place allowing old mate to score.

They did, I just wonder whether the team trains for this sort of stuff. You need to have structures in place for situations and I wonder whether we do.Originally posted by busted chook View Postits a fair assumption i guess. Agreed. IMO people heavily under-rate the advantage of having somebody who's ready to play 1st grade as a backup.Originally posted by Kelby View PostThe Baptise was a great back up. All the best up north.
I hope we are grooming/watching/buying a good young dummy half for 2020 thou.
The guy played alright for Canberra circa 2016 and got the job done every time I saw him play (i.e. no gaping holes down the middle).
He basically wasn't needed because our club had 2 international halves, our captain at hooker and Maubs/Matto covering his position (but as dual position player). Dunno where the hate's coming from...

the thing I know is you need a backup DH.
The minute you don't sign one up, that's the time Jake gets injured
I'm sure we will have sound replacement for the Baptiste (who I rated and wish all the best)Written and published on behalf of the Liberal Party, Queensland
