Be great if it ever happens. Wasn't too long ago that we had a back row of Ricketson, Fitzgibbon and Morley, with Fletcher coming on from the bench. Hard to beat that one, which won us the 2002 grand final.

Super Rugby ends in July (potentially August if the Blues go all the way) - he would be coming across within weeks of the finals and basically be a bench forward for the rest of the season......hard to buy it happening unless he asks for a release beforehand. (he may be granted one due to the All Blacks considering him too old to put resources into)

Mate that is exactly what Jimmy Smith has outlined will happen. NZ Rugby have already told him that he won't be considered for the 2019 RWC. So it depends on how far the Blues go.

I'd love to have him come in late and play on the edges. I just don't want him if they are going to use him up the middle like they did in 2014.

I heard this rumoured some time back. Question, doesn't he need to have a contract lodged by June 30? Or is this only the deadline for currently contracted NRL players to switch teams? As a free agent, can he sign and register a contract after this date?

Maybe we can sign him late and for $30k a year because it is only 1/2 the season... just like Gaz? :P

this will definitely fix up our right centre defense.

If he’s getting too old for union, surely he’s too old for league as well then?

Im worried we could become a retirement village at the expense of some great young talent missing out, being under developed or lost to rival clubs.

                          Who makes way for SBW?

You would have to imagine Aubesson would be off to chase a big larger contract elsewhere

Not sure it's because of age. If it was he wouldn't be playing for the Blues. The All Blacks have a zillion quality players to choose from. All younger. They just wanna go with youth. But I don't think anyone is suggesting he can't still play at that level.
