JWH on the bench... a long-term call?

Butcher above Collins and no more bloody back rowers in our centres. Yay!

I reckon Trent is just giving JWH a bit of a bitch slapping after last years finals efforts. Same for making Napa play last weekend. I called SST for the front row when watching last season so this comes as no surprise. He and Liu are both too good to be sharing 40 minutes each at Lock.

Gone for mobility early, when the big guys are short of a run. Butcher in is something I like. His work-rate is great, he plays an intelligent game and can slip a good ball.

No big surprises. The big call is SST in the front row. Be interesting to see who takes the goal kicks. The guess is Latrell. Only a trial but a guide to who Robbo rates. Our younger props need a run-a-round so the Wyong game is essential for them too. Manu and Mitchell should appreciate playing outside Cronk and Cornish who will give good service, given room. Teddy's debut. It's a great attacking backline.

And no Keary....sanity prevails. If you can believe a named trial team.

They can easily slip Keary in on game day. This isn't an NRL game so the squad is not set in stone.

Butcher got some nice offloads away late last week. I like his rotation with Liu and hope this remains when the season proper starts. I also like SST as starting front row. No better way to get JWH and Napa fired up to give them competition for a starting position. I think SST has more upside than either in the front row going forward with his mobility and workrate. With Crighton coming in 2019 we can rebalance the salary cap by offloading one (Napa for me) and using that cash to strengthen the outside backs (Fergo replacement) and forward depth.

JWH is on the bench because of his delayed start to preseason due to that stem cell procedure on his knee, its also the reason Cordner is not playing, both guys haven't had a full workload during the offseason so they aren't fully ready yet.

Robbo taking huge risk starting toups.

plenty support Trent’s creation of benchwinger as a position. Time will tell how Robbo’s cunning plan plays out

Thoughts on Stapo on the bench as a secret weapon in the final 10 minutes?

There will be a second rower soon enough in the centre's, Manu will leak enough points to force TR's hand

why have the luxury of 10 mins. Simply keep him seated for 80

Great backline but we do look a little light in the forwards . I hope the rumors of FPN aren’t true. He was a defensive liability and struggled playing with the raiders pack. And why are we still chasing old forwards this late in the offseason, what was our plan before this decision.

I wonder if this is why his contract has yet to be extended??
A wait and see approach on whether he is worth keeping ...
