Can you please explain the benefits of the raw food diet to me as I am not aware.
Just another fad diet with no scientific basis. IMO that kinda thing only floats with guys like SBW because it’s about setting a simple principle for discipline (i.e. going without a luxury) and sticking with it. He’s a muslim for that reason, he likes that kinda mentality, he’s obsessed with insane amounts of discipline and it flows through to his training/prep where he clearly doesn’t take any shortcuts.
IMO that’s fine for that kinda dude if it’s purely a discipline thing and you’re not giving yourself food poisoning (e.g. you eat a heap of sashimi, salads, fruits, nuts...etc). However, it’s in no way necessary (or beneficial from a nutritional perspective), going without a properly balanced diet can cause serious health problems and shyte like this could really pi$$ off guys who prefer more freedom.
As a sprinter I remember some guys performed better when fully relaxed. The key to this was often farking around before races (childish jokes with mates..etc to get them all cocky/confident), stuffing down a bit of KFC (in moderation) or playing video games...etc. I don’t think army-style obedience to a set of principles gets the best out of all athletes. However, if it gets the most out of an individual like SBW or gets Fergo behaving properly without killing his natural ability, then maybe it’s a good thing.
I’’ve follwed Keegan and his Real Movement project since he was last at the Roosters and I’m an unabashed fan. He is a very good physical trainer, who emphasises genuine athletic, multi-plane movements, not just pumping iron. I recall he banned bench presses when he was our S&C man, because it over-tightened the pecs, and left the players susceptible to tears. He had them doing inclined presses instead, which spreads the load between the pec & shoulder muscles. We had no pec injuries under his watch. I welcome his return.

I usuallly never agree with you but I am with you on this one matey.
Massive gain for us. Keegan is a gun. It’s not just the discipline. It’s about getting the players to buy in to something. Getting them to do something as a group that is difficult and finish it together. Keegan is top shelf and makes me more confident next year.
