  • Archer's response

Has Archer come out with a statement about the penalty try? He has been on few occasions this year to make a statement after a game and address any controversial issues. The commentators were adamant it should not have been a try.

If he does You can be sure he will also make mention that the Strims try should have been a scrum with their feed

He has to ask Cameron Smith first - unfortunately Smith is unavailable - just to say this - Joey Johns liked that the ref showed courage to give it and Freddy agreed that it was a penalty try - saying if Mitchell didn't tackle him it would have been a try -as that's why he tackled him without the ball to stop the try.- Don't think Archer has to make any statements now about this after both their comments??- Did Robbo mention it in the press conference either way opinion?

I can't agree on the penalty try being awarded, but I think I prefer it was, rather than lose a player for 10min, which would of happened if it wasn't awarded.

I was watching in PNG and it was the Fox coverage and everyone discussed it at halftime and were adamant it should not have been given a try considering it was still bouncing more tha 5 meters out, and the conditions would have created further doubt. They even put up the rule on the screen to explain when a penalty try should be awarded.

As if Vunivalu is so guaranteed at cleaning up a ball and it not ending up between his legs?!

Curiously Archer, a few things happened we've never seen before.

Post again king salvo, get off the Devils number

Archer came out and said the penalty try was correct because "despite being pulled back Vunivalu almost regathered the ball."

That only makes *some* sense if this was all happening in-goal or on the line.

                        It was a stupid descision.
The definitions on particular rules, as the vidiot should apply them are black and white.
The nrl thrives on shades of grey.

Much like lawyers, they need grey areas.

No excuse for that one, even allowing for that tolerance.
Make every "rule" come down to opinion and what do you get?

Control over "sport", at least to a certain degree.

I preferred the penalty try to the bin.

So what does archer say when the same happens to us and no penalty try given? Remember sitting at the sfs this season and seeing a worse example not awarded to roosters.

I don't think the question is whether we preferred the penalty to the bin, just the fact they redefined the rules to award the try. The ball was bouncing away from Vunivalu and he was no certainty to pick it up cleanly.
