  • We are now supposed to be looking to sign Woods

This was written about an hour ago on the Daily Telegraph website. I think it is subscribers only so have copied and pasted. I'm not a huge Woods fan and think he would be way over priced for what he offers...

THE Sydney Roosters first launched an audacious bid to sign Wests Tigers star James Tedesco — now the Bondi club plan to pursue team-mate Aaron Woods.

The Daily Telegraph understands Woods has been offered to the Roosters — and there is interest.

It could mean the Sydney Roosters pinch the prop and fullback Tedesco from Concord as a package. The pair are worth a combined annual salary of around $2 million.

PROOF: Reality TV has nothing on NRL

The Roosters are pushing to sign Tigers duo James Tedesco and Aaron Woods
Canterbury however can’t be discounted. The Bulldogs have prepared substantial four-year offers for Tedesco and Woods and remain slight favourites ahead of the Roosters.

Woods is Wests Tigers through and through but is considering quitting the club for a more glamorous spot at either the Bulldogs or Roosters.

Wests Tigers have also put forward lucrative offers to Tedesco and Woods and remain hopeful, rather than confident, of retaining the pair. The club’s upset win over North Queensland may have boosted their chances of re-signing both players.

It is likely now that Tedesco and Woods will play together at either Wests Tigers, Canterbury or Sydney Roosters.

It is understood the Bulldogs will meet with the management of Tedesco and Woods tomorrow to nail down official four-year offers.

The Tigers skipper may be looking elsewhere for the 2018 season
Canterbury would however be forced to offload several players to sign Woods and Tedesco. Some names already touted include Will Hopoate, Josh Reynolds and James Graham.

Graham is a club favourite and would be difficult to cull although Newcastle has expressed an early interest should the English forward be squeezed out of Belmore.

The Daily Telegraph reached out to Roosters coach Trent Robinson for comment about Woods but he did not respond.

Last week, Robinson told The Daily Telegraph he “wouldn’t talk about recruitment.”

“I can’t help out,” Robinson texted.

Des Hasler has reportedly made a big play for the star Tigers pair
Wests Tigers will target Josh Dugan, Cooper Cronk, Shaun Johnson and Gareth Widdop if the club has additional money to spend through the possible exit of Moses, Woods and Tedesco.

Speculation mounted yesterday that Mitch Moses was considering backflipping on his Eels deal to remain at Wests Tigers but this was denied by his management.

There was additional rumours that halfback Luke Brooks wanted to renege on his Wests Tigers deal and shift to Melbourne as a replacement for departing Cooper Cronk. This was also denied.

The rugby league rumour mill has been overdrive with Kieran Foran still heavily linked to Canterbury. Foran wants to return to Sydney to be closer to his young family. Some close to the star player though feel he could avoid the spotlight and limelight of Sydney by remaining in Auckland for another year or two.

Matulino for mine. Better player at his peak in my view, I think he will come for less, and he won't be caught up with Origin. Also a bit older, which is good in terms of our youngsters getting an opportunity, as well as getting a forward which, if history is anything to go by, should be coming in to the best part of his career.

Would be a major coup to sign both... but an even bigger coup for the Dogs to sign them AND Foran.

I like Matulino as well, probably a few hundred K cheaper per year. For mine Woods is a myth and thats a lot of money for a prop.

Not a huge fan of Woods. No thanks.
Everyone I speak to think Tedesco is going to the Dogs.

Who knows how it will all pan out.
              Matulino
The 28-year-old New Zealand international underwent surgery on his left knee in early January, only three months after a procedure on his right knee.
However he has since experienced post-surgery complications and was wearing an antibiotic pack on his arm at Wednesday’s NRL season launch.
Has Matulino said he is looking for another club?

Woods is a brilliant player, needs a fresh start somewhere else.

Would be extremely happy with him as a signing. Tedesco has got to be the priority though.

Wow.. surely not serious about Woods unless it's the only way we can get Teddy across the line.

I'd prefer our current guys and lower graders.

Woods is average. A fully fit Matulino is much better.

I couldn't handle the scummy Dogs beating us to Tedesco. Though if it means they have to release James Graham then I'd love to see him at our club.

The Dogs seem more desperate than we are to get these deals over the line. Already offering official deals, probably for more money than what we can offer. I also find it suss that Hasler re-signed with the dogs so soon after he was supposedly told he had to prove himself. Could be a sign of stability to attract Tedesco and woods

I hate losing out too the Dogs but I have a feeling they've got us here.

Seems to be a late call for a package deal - if one was a betting person it would be both to Dogs/Both Re-sign with Tigers/ Tedesco to Roosters- Woods to Dogs/Tedesco and Woods to Roosters- from what I am hearing we wont be signing one let alone both- Dogs firming every day as the likely destination of both players- May even be decided by Wednesday

more than likely will be at the Tigers in 2018

Not a huge fan. But I think he is probably what this club needs in the forwards. Definitely have a look at him. Not for 900k though.
