After watching the trial I am full of hope for 2017.

This time last year I was still hopeful but after about 6 games , that hope was beaten out of me . I wondered if a team could go all season without a win......

I hope we can get a few of those close wins back this year , we had so many "almost" good enough games last year.

I'm still dirty about that game vs Manly.

Mind you , I thought we could still scrape into the eight after the first 6 rounds last season.
Hopefully some one has trod on the factors that contributed to that.

If memory serves me correctly , we were the last team that went through a whole season without a win?????????????? I think it was the same year I was born.

A truck load better this season. Last year was a trainwreck. The wheels fell off with some key departures and only half a regular side for the first 2 months. We steadied rather well after that but our season was over before it began. This year we are building off last and the only way is up.

The Sharks will come back to earth with a thud. They were claytons premiers last year and I can't see them scraping through again on a number of occasions like they did last year.

Broncos will be good but they have players in trouble, players leaving and has beens joining their ranks. I think they will be a rabble (but a tough rabble) at least until after origin.

Cows will simply be like they were last year. A tough side. A talented side and although they couldn't back it up last year, they will be very hard to beat again this time round. Weather is an underwritten factor for these guys. It's a big advantage to them playing at home but it can also hurt them when playing down south. Let's hope for a very cold winter where the likes of Melbourne, Canberra and Penrith could do them some damage.

Melb will be very close again and they will be out to avenge the one that got away last year. Love him or loathe him, Belamy does something down there that works. Yes he has some superstars but he has a habit of getting unknowns to fire with his stars making it very dangerous to underestimate them. They also have quite an intimidating atmosphere down there for opposing sides considering most of the fans down there still don't know the rules and get very loud when things go against them. That also has an influence on the officiating at Melbourne home games.

We will go well this year. Don't be surprised to see us threaten these top sides but we won't be the only ones. I wouldn't be surprised this year if the premiers end up being a club that wasn't even in the mix for honors this season.

No trip to the UK helps us this pre-season. I thought we went in to the premiership underdone last year, it was particularly obvious in our first game against Souths who hit the ground running whilst we barely got out of a jog. All the players have said how tough the pre-season has been so hopefully we are a lot fitter than last year. I liked what I saw from Keary the other night and he and Pearce should provide us with better direction and more flair then we had last year. With some luck and with improvement from some of our younger brigade and I can see us sneaking into the top 4

Well I've got money on us to make the GF. Am I confident? Not really, but $16 was worth a gamble. I have no doubt we make the Semi's.
There were valid reasons for the fiasco that was last yr.
