You're missing the point. You're ignoring the fact that Topou showed no interest in helping a clearly injured teamate. Whether we nearly scored of not is irrelevant. It's one of the worst things I've seen on the field from any chook player. Yeah it's a problem for sure. Pearce shouldn't have to be running all the way over from first receiver to the right wing every time there's a linebreak on the right.

I get that Fergo's actually trying hard... what I don't think people give him credit for is the fact he's going for intercepts, or putting immense pressure on the opposite centre by rushing up on him. BUT... he's gotta calm down and stick to the structure 99% of the time. 1%'ers are just that... you roll the dice and take a big risk because you NEED to. You don't rush up on the centre EVERY time because he'll get bored of it and send his wingman through the gap you've created every time.

Meh... I still like Fergo though! He's a fine athletic specimen. I think we've taken a bit of the mongrel out of him by cleaning him up (dunno if you guys have watched him train but he was HILLARIOUS when he first signed, but literally wouldn't shut his mouth, stop swearing or stop yelling, which I think woulda been super intense).

I suspect that he's calmed down a bit and isn't some hungry monster anymore. However, he's learning how to be a more mature version of himself IMO. When he hits the sweet spot between mongrel and other he will be awesome. We saw a bit of this when he was playing for Australia IMO.

I'm sorry, but I do not get that Ferguson is trying at all. 9 runs from centre is absolutely NOT trying.

He has never been consistent his entire career, always been a highlight reel player with a nice handful of great plays every 6-8 weeks mixed with plenty of horrid defensive reads and embarrassing bonehead errors.

He will not change, either. He is long past the "youthful stupidity" phase which he might have grown out of, and instead is just going to forever be making the same dumb mistakes. Just every now and then he'll pull off some cool shit as well to balance it out (although he hasn't done anything good this whole season).

Toops is shit as well in that he is simply taking a place from someone hungrier and thus more deserving than he is, but Fergo is more of a detriment as he is soaking up a huge amount of cap space and costing us multiple games with his school boy reads

Fergo's defence is no longer first grade quality (if it ever was). He needs to fix this shit immediately. Our defence down both wings is very poor these days and teams seems to exploit our deficiencies with ease.
