Different Player Watson I think he would go alright as starting 5/8th

Tonight or long term? If he's the long term 5/8 why did we buy Niko? And if he's better than Niko now why hasn't he been playing since the start of the season when Pearce was ruled out? Some strange player selections this year. Maybe he'll just be 18th man tonight though. Agree with the other bloke who said that Niko sounded defeated during his last interview. Interesting choice of words.

watched him play several times has a good temperament for the game .
Dont forget guys like Nico and Latrell were thrown at the deep end this season when the plan was too ease them into first grade etc..you know the story .So be it . Chooks have to try things and blood the odd potential player and give em a go . We got a glimpse of Pappali and hope to see more of him .

That's what I mean though, they were both thrown in the deep end and are managing. They're both only going to get better. I just don't think you can throw someone in when you know they're not quite ready and then bench him for someone who was further under the pecking order. It's not good for confidence or morale. It'd hard enough to blood a rookie half next to an inexperienced half let alone three on the field at the same time. I'd prefer to see more of papali with Guerra at 5/8 and Niko time to develop off the bench. No disrespect to Watson intended.

The thing is neither are likely to be our long term 5/8 with Pearce and Hastings around for at least the next 4-5 seasons. They may well have a future off the bench down the track, but once all our forwards are back and barring further injury neither will likely be in the 17 the 2nd half of the season. So given that Nikko seems out of his depth at the moment I wouldn't mind seeing what Watson can do given the chance. The way Nikko has been playing, not really offering much at all, we have little to lose and possibly plenty to gain.

Watson has not been named in the under 20's. As much as I would be surprised if he plays tonight, the fact that he's been left out says a bit. Then again, it might just be a case of Robbo using him as the 18th man - getting him introduced to the preparation of a first grade game. It may very well be the latter.

Hastings definitely, Pearce maybe not.. The club has definitely spoken to Lachlan Coote about coming to the Roosters next season to play 5/8.

Well blow me... he HAS been named, replacing Papalii!!! Wonder what our plan is? Must be a vote of confidence in Nikorima starting at #6 with Watson playing utility?

Weird given our other plan worked last week. Oh well... be an interesting night. Got my meat pies in the oven!!

Edit: Souffs and all their indigenous team based in Redfern BS... are we now fielding more indigenous players than any other team? Anybody got any insight into how we're signing all the gun up and coming indigenous players? We're developing a really awesome culture.

The frequency of Robinson naming a player on the bench who then essentially doesn't ever actually get on the field is becoming a worry. If not for a Niko head knock Watson wouldn't have even taken the field.

Does Robbo know how to run a bench?

Not sure what to make of him due to the lack of game time and possession. But his first (or so) touch was a good one. Hope he replaces Nikorima who looks like he does not belong

Robbo is genuinely going down the same path Sticky did at the Roosters. The comparisons are down right frightening. Robbo's use of the bench is bordering on ridiculous.
