  • How we unsettle the Panthers?

Surely, if we shut down Moylan & Cartwright we will win this game by a lot but the thing I find with Penrith is their attack is weak at times especially when they are under pressure.

To beat them, and to really do the job on them I really think we need to use our right side attack on them constantly throughout the night as get the ball to Nikorima, Mitchell, Aubboson, Ferguson and SKD and just run over and around Soward the entire night as they still leak so many points on that side!!!!! Fergo & SKD should take a lot of confidence out of the Souths game now and really spark their attack.

I can see Napa performing another 80 minutes again, I mean after a 5 day turn around and to perform like that no doubt he would be in contention for a Test jumper in May?

Also, James Hooper mentioned yesterday as possible returns for JWH & Cordner on Anzac Day. Although I would love to see them back but when we beat Penrith comfortably wouldn't we want to wait until Round 10? We only have Dragons and the Knights to play after the Panthers and yet both games will be at Allianz? Reason I say this is that the team is starting to settle with one another, just give them another two weeks extra to do so. Then we go in full blazes against the Titans, Bullscums, Storm and Tigers to have a 8 - 0 run before the mid way point of the season.

    Thoughts?

I hope you're right but can't see how we could be confident of winning this game by a lot. Panthers form is very impressive compared to ours. In saying that we're on the upward spiral hopefully and would like to think we'd get home in a tight one.
Possibly target the Panthers young 5/8th with some short balls around him. Moylan is a superstar and will be hard to contain

If the halves can move the ball we have a chance but haven't seen it all year plus some one that can kick the ball down field would help

Stop their second phase. Whenever they ad lib they look good but when they try to play to a structure they struggle so stopping their offloads is key in my opinion

Our long kicking game is horrendous this season.

That's cause Hastings doesn't have a long kick on him. We need Pearce back desperately

                  Exactly.
You can 'fine tune' your short kicking game but the ability kick long is something that you're born with. It really has put us under the pump every game so i agree Pearce's return can't come quick enough..

Our fullback has a longer kick in general play as shown against the vermin - likely we use it more into the season.

Surely by now Soward is predictable to read in attack as he is still scared to run the line. Wallace at Hooker is even more slow enough so I really think their new 5/8 could be danger as maybe we tell our forwards just to unleash on him. Napa will be too occupied on the bigger men, so say you get Lui or SST (if fit) and Evans just to stick on him at all times.

Best in the comp for offloads...we need to be wary

Seggy is back so it makes neutralising the off load more urgent.....

Moylan loops to their left (our right) and we will be skittled every time.

I would pass back to Latrell Mitchell for our longer kicking game, a-la Andrew Walker at Full-back in the late 90's. It would help us in terms of field position if we can get him kicking longer down field. We give teams such an easy passage into our half and we can be punished easily on the edges - especially Fergos side.

Penrith are a top 8 team in my opinion, they're going to keep it simple and roll through their sets but they have strike weapons backs, Waqa Blake, DWZ, John Mansour and Matt Moylan.

I would love for us to match it with them for the whole game, we're improving alot since the North Queensland Cowboys thrashing.

Dylan Napa, Kane Evans, Guerra and Moa really need to lift again for us to be some sort of chance of winning.

We're very close to getting M.Pearce back who will provide great long kicking game and tougher help defence on the edges.

Also Boyd Cordner and JWH + these guys would provide an extra 300+ running metres, makes us a much more complete pack having them return.

Key Note is JWH shouldn't be rushed back, ACL's are tough getting back, i'd be happy for him to start on the bench and build up his match fitness.

Bash them from the opening whistle.

                              Reduce our unforced errors.

Complete our sets and kick to the Seagulls.

Hopefully we've worked on our flaky right edge D.
