The loss of Trent Robinson and Cherry Mescia? We have essentially the same playing group, so is it the loss of key coaching staff members? I'm trying to assess what else could be causing us to tailspin. No doubt the disruption of the Carney groin and drink driving incidents and Carney/Watts affair have distracted us from the business of footy too. Add to tthat the Anasta instability and Myles's defection to the Titans.

But are these things enough? Professional athletes have healthy egos, so this fall from grace could also be attributed to them reading their own press from August last year? I'm pretty sure they haven't got too many people telling them the hard truths at the moment.

Has anyone else got any other things to factor in?

Robinson was our defensive coordinator and Mescia our sprint coach I believe?

Our defence has been good. And apart from Mini sprinting out of the way in defence, can't say I can remember seeing one of our players actually put in the longens lately?

    Chook.

Have heard that their replacements - who are not as experienced or tough (on the players) - are nowhere near as good. Too much pandering to 'Gen Y'.

First game of the year our attack looked awesome. Highly co-ordinated, bodies in motion everywhere, lots of angles. Obviously the result of a very strong off season prep. But ever since our attack has been a rabble. Since about the time Carney started getting in trouble - but he wasn't there anyway for the first game nor for the off season. So it shouldn't be that.

        All fairly puzzling.

Yep. I was buzzing during that game after last year and assumed the whole year would be like that. Seems like things don't always go your way and we need to dig ourselves out of it somehow.

Or maybe it was just cause our opposition were LOL@50uffs..

Yes, I was euphoric at that souths game. It wasn't the opposition, they were splendid in attack. Ruts happen. We are in one. But what goes down must come up...

Point about the Souths game was the coaching staff obviously did a lot right with the attacking structure in the off season which rapidly turned to sh*t. So what happened? Its weird. I'm sure they didn't stop coaching them. What was working in the off season that stopped working after a couple of games? Lots of murmerings of dissension in the ranks but the fact that the defence has held pretty strong is a fairly good indicator that attitude isn't the problem, if you believe the cliche of defence being all about attitude.

we have been world beaters in the first twenty or thirty minutes of every game in fact in almost all of them we couldve been 3 or 4 tries up then we fade into oblivion .Defence has been generally good but no petrol left in the attack to finish the moves all because of tiredness so fitness must come into it at some stage of the arguement.

Interesting to hear blocker say today that the roosters coaching staff changed everything in the off season, they changed the way they attack, they changed their defence, they changed all their structures from last year.

It's just crazy that would happen after last season. Smith is an idiot.

Brain, your spot on, in the first half of most, if not all games, we have been i great positions to score, but have bombed chances that last year would have been certain points.

These boys, and i have said it before, need some Focus and patience ! Again, last night, no repeat sets, no drop outs by the cows when we were in their half, not that we were down there alot of times anyways !!!! But that has been the theme for our past 5 - 6 games. Against the knights, in the first half, we forced 3 or 4 repeat sets and we were rewarded with points. With out that pressure and with failed attempts to score, confidence drops, later on in the game when we have defended everything, then we crack and scores blow out....See last night for an example.

Ox Baker, your spot on, If the players did not have heart, or a bad attitude, our we would be floged by 50 by the time the first half finished. I don't subscribe to the "no heart bad attitude" campaign, but i do believe they need focus, patience and respect for the ball.

Brain's right. They popped Cherry, now we cant go the distance, physically which leads to mental instability, focus, confidence, self belief issues.

Knowing that he couldnt win unless a culture change was invoked he knew he was on a hiding to nothing.

Ok but who told him that? Canavan? Politis? The board? who?

Canavan is gone and if it was either of the others than wtf are they doing telling him that, protecting the players right to be underperforming retards?

If Politis or the board think the current culture of the joint, where players arn't performing to NRL standard because they have the shits with the coach changing structures, they are some dumb mother ****ers. Hasler changed Manly with a brand new halfback and they are going gangbusters.

Maybe Smith is letting it get bad to show the results of their continual interference?

Let Smith be Smith = ruthless, and judge him.

                              Chook.
