In fairness to Soward it was his first game and his second half was much better. Mitchell in in his fourth outing and wasn't exactly amazing (though good under the circumstances). Curious that some Roosters fans still need to validate that decision to move Soward on and keep Mitch.
Soward kicked okay but tonight validated my opinion that he is and never will be a playmaking half, he cannot break a game open and he isn't creative enough to make opportunities out of nothing.
Pearce was great. Defense was excellent, looked dangerous all night. Good passing game (other than the questionable forward pass call) and had QLD guessing all night. His vision showed when he was backing up Bird and no other NSW player was in sight. Pearce is an Origin player.
Along with your so called 'objective view' (which is a contradiction in itself, becasue how is an opinion in anyway objective??), you perhaps need to get some perspective. Clearly the saints aren't on top solely becasue of the milkman, and similarly, the Roosters aren't foundering just becasue of Pearce's incompetence.
Really, if you want to claim some authority in your posts (which you clearly do with your holier-than-thou username) you might want to use some logic.
He did tonight what he does for Saints every game.
Defend in the centres or wing and kick the ball.
The only difference he wasn't playing in a dominant team, he was forced to kick under pressure and in bad positions. We all saw how good he was.
I've said before anyone could play well in the halves for the Saints, they dominate every game they play.
People can criticise Pearce all they like but he showed why he can be a great player.
Most good things NSW did came down his left side of the field. He also saved 2-3 tries with great tackles on Thaiday and Slater, who kept coming at him all night.
The kid just has a big ticker, he dosn't need "bodyguards".
that would be your most apt and least redundant sig ever !

At a football club, there’s a holy trinity – the players, the manager and the supporters. Directors don’t come into it. They are only there to sign the cheques.

The fireworks at the Easter show are making more noise than the crowd tonight

I agree with Cindy. If he was still a Rooster, some would be saying' But it's only his first SOO game...!' but since he isn't, we're quick to criticise the little dude. If he gets a few more chances, which I think he wil, then we can be objective about his performance. Even though he is not a good defender, he came up with some good tackles in the 2nd.
