  • Hastings next week?

Hasting's been playing superbly filling in for Pearcy so what does Trent do when he has Hastings who's fully fit and match fit and proving more than capable for final footy and Pearce who can't be 100% fit and in no way will be 100% match fit as he's been out for the past few weeks. I would stick with Hastings because he seems to have much more variety in his play and has handled final footy very well. What do people feel here?

Pearce back, Hastings to bench, McIllwirk drops off, no brainer. Just like SKD came back into his spot in place of Elliott who had been a sensational replacement. whichever way Trent goes, I believe he will choose what is best for the team, and will not question him, unlike some people here who were questioning his wisdom by dropping Matagi off the bench.

What a ridiculous thread and question this has become. As soon as the docs pass him fit he walks back into the team. It's a no brainer, Hastings back to the bench.

Yes Pearce will be back if he passes the fitness test, but more importantly, I am just so impressed with what Hastings has achieved in filling in for Pearce, so much so, that next season I wouldn't mind Pearce being moved to 5/8th, and Hastings being the half, he is a natural halfback, and has a better kicking game then Pearce.

He has a better short kicking game than Pearce.
If Pearce is fit there is no way Hastings will be selected ahead of him.

Regardless, we can rest easy knowing we're in good hands next season.

Our attack on the opposition line has been very disjointed the past couple of weeks. Most of our tries have come from longer range as a result of our power game, quick play the balls and off the cuff play.

Pearce will make a huge difference to our goalline attack and will be a welcome addition.

Hastings has been fantastic though for a player his age. He'll fit in seemlessly next year.

James Maloney should drop off for Mitchell Pearce

there were alot of doubters regarding Jacksons potential to fill Maloneys boots next season

thank goodness he's put that to rest

Robbo said last night if it was the GF Pearce would have played but the extra weeks training will have him 100% for the Broncos

Hasting to the bench will have the team ready to peak

Hastings has just been so awesome that he's earned a spot on the team for good in my opinion. If Pearcy is not fit I'm more than happy with Jackson.

This. Hastings good but people getting ahead of themselves. We would have won last week with Pearce in the side.

Yep agree wit that. You can just see when we're in good ball zone no one is constructing the set, no one's thinking 3 or 4 plays ahead and we're waisiting a lot of plays as a result. It's almost like once we can no longer progress any further up the field with our power game we look a bit clueless. Usually run through a set play or 2 but never set it up well with the carry before or get to the right position on the field.

We're pretty lucky we came up against the Dog last night IMO.

Not to take anything away from Hastings who at 19 years old filling in has been nothing short of admirable but Pearce just has 200 games of experience at playing the role Hastings is still learning and it's showed.

Stage fright is a real possibility. It's an Origin game, basically. Milford and Hunt may be in their own backyard, but they don't have the pressure cooker experience. Surely we must one-up them there.

That's the dumbest comment I've heard for a long time.

That guy thinks he knows about the game. He has NFI. He obviously liked hasslers tactics of going into a game without a goal kicker.
