  • Heard a few things

Salary Cap situation is extremely tight for next year, most of the players dont deserve to be in the ballpark of the figures mentioned they are on!
Complete F-Up imo... But others havent stepped up as the club expected them to...

We are looking at a couple of outside backs (Wingers/Centres) dont watch other teams much but both are regular first graders and are good players at the very least. Also looking at getting FG prop secondrower.

Asked about the fullback spot but didnt get an answer on that one...

We are looking at a couple of players at Manly/Dogs/ and a few Storm juniors that POS is in the loop with... To get the ball rolling alot will depend on Hoppa Juniors decision, he re-signs with Manly and they will let go of at least 2 backs

Most of the names linked with us in the papers are accurate and Braith will be here next year unless something unexpected/dramatic occurs...

If I have read that correctly it is rather sad that we have to pay overs too retain players

Why are we signing players? Time for a cleanout instead.

Both correct also Tony Williams. Goodwin and Kilifi at the Dogs.

Blair and Fifita we have already started to talk but other clubs have also made plays for them...

I mentioned Locke but Cleary is reluctant to release him atm. The decision on fullback will be made once the club decides on Mini he may still remain here.

            SBW also accurate...

Parramatta are cashed up at the moment and and are making plays for most of the players we are chasing also...

We may approach Parra with a player(s) swap for Poore... They will consider it if they get a few of their other recruiting targets

Yes you can. The day Sheens got to the Tigers, he implemented a local junior policy. The Dogs did it over a few years and got rid of a whole heap of crap, picking up the occasional signing here and there. The Cowboys did it last year by getting rid of Webb, O'Donnell, Mason, Watts, Southern etc etc.

You do realize of this years top 25, 21 have been signed from other clubs. That is not signing the odd player. No other club in the NRL has as many players in their ranks that have played for another NRL clubs than the Dogs.

Less. It was published earlier in the year in one of the papers showing each NRL clubs number of players who had played for other clubs. The Dogs were on top. The Roosters only have from memory 11 or 12. Even the Titans had less than the Dogs lol.. We were around the middle of the pack. The median was about 10.

Sorry, I meant the other clubs performing cleanouts.

All clubs do but if we don't sign anyone we would then just pay the players we have more and we do not have the talent in the lower grades to cover.. Our depth is shocking...

I don't mean get rid of them all. I mean select a core group of players and piss off the rest.

sounds good to me. in terms of the winger/centres. the short list seems to be david and tony williams, oldfield, goodwin and tia kilifi. i would avoid both williams' and goodwin (all overrated imo and would command bigger bucks than the other two who are arguably better players). tia kilifi is an excellent young player. a little on the short side which may not be ideal considering he would pair perrett on the flanks but has plenty of power and pace about his game and can definitely find the line. oldfield we all know about and agree would be an excellent addition.

id be interested to know who the juniors are we are having a crack at from the storm. considering POS left a good few years ago now it would have to be someone like duffie, o'neil, neilsen. o'neil could be a good pick up for us imo because he can play wing, centre and fullback so would give us plenty of flexibility and a potential replacement for mini no doubt. the other player it could be is tomane who is one of POS' recruits however he no longer plays with the storm and is with the titans but is out of favor. definitely has ability so i wouldnt be against picking him up either.

in terms of the forwards, i think ryles and myles are likely to go and we should really be looking for replacements for both. poore/gibbs is the ideal replacement for ryles imo - both experienced props who are in their primes but due to cap pressure/injuries/form are slightly out of favor which would mean that we are unlikely to pay overs for them. As for a replacement for myles, houston/waterhouse would probably be ideal. hopefully not SBW. talented yes but another big salary which we can illafford as we have plenty of players who will be on marquee salaries in the not too distant future (SKD, Carney, Pearce, Kennedy etc). Fifita and Blair would both be a waste. we have FPN, cherrington, arona who are blair clones imo and masoe and tasi who are also very similar players to fifita. what we need is 2 guys that will provide experience but also have good workrates and are relatively consistent players.

if any of this is true.....not only will we win many spoons....but we will deserve them.
