Surely now we must legalise stripping the ball. The ref's have proven that they have not got a clue and attacking players are capitalising by releasing the ball in the ruck to earn a penalty. If the strip is legalised the responsibility is on the player and not the ref. If the ball comes out its a knock on and the players fault. No 50/50 call. No refs discretion. It's time to reward ball security and take the game away from the referees.

Isn't that how it used to be? I think if we go that way then you need to limit the amount of defenders that can come into a tackle. Otherwise you have 2 or 3 holding the tackled player with all sorts of wrestling holds and the other with a free go at the ball. Be pretty hard to hold the ball under those circumstances. Isn't that why they changed it in the first place?
You are right tho. It's become a guessing game.Embrace the Hate! JC

If you allow stripping then it goes back to how it was years ago ...which everyone seemed to be unhappy with. As you say at the moment it is a guessing game for the refs.
What about keep the rule as it is BUT if the ref is sure its been stripped, then penalise ...if he is not sure, then perhaps tell the player to pick the ball up and just play it with no penalty ?

The way the rule stands as it is, the refs shouldn't be blowing a penalty unless they 100% see the ball raked. I just can't handle seeing a ball pop out and a penalty blown. That hit yesterday where Evans drilled the raiders bloke and a penalty was blown.. Wtf was that.
