Not entirely true, he was killing it that half season - he played an even better game against the Storm and was just as good against Manly, and I am sure there are others that I can't remember off the top of my head. While he wasn't one of the elite, his last season in Canberra he was certainly looking like one of the best centres in the game. Hopefully he gets back there eventually.

When SKD was at centre and Fergo joined the team heaps on here were saying, great, SKD is a better winger than centre anyway".
Honestly, I don't know what to make of SKD. In all fairness to him, and enough of the $ull$hit, when SKD is 5 metres out from the line he is one of the most prolific scorers in the game. That's the first time I have ever seen him drop the ball over the line like that.
Sure, I have seen him drop it midfield plenty of times and that is frustrating as hell. His awareness is terrible. The arm carrying the ball flys about everywhere and every coach is aware of it. I can't imagine that he hasn't been spoken to about it by the coaching staff but if it hasn't improved by now it's never going to. To be honest I don't know what to do with the guy. I keep hearing Nene McDonald should be given a go but from what I have seen of him he is lazy

We lost the game coz of two poor defensive lapses. JWH and someone else allowing their halfback to shrug them off? I mean cmon, what's that about? And Moa and Pearce missing Keary and making him look like a superstar.
We also need to get Fergo more involved in attack.

I remember a game- may have been last year but I'm not at all confident of that - where he was running to the tryline and about to place the ball down for an easy try and an opposition player knocked the ball out of his ball carrying arm. It was his usual loose one armed carry. But every other time when he's close to the line he usually scores.

I think that was against the warriors in 2013. That was at the height of the 'Skid must go' campaign.

I've been a big supporter of his over the years, especially after the 2013 GF, but I've got to say I was up him last week in Townsville and again yesterday. A bloke can only take so much....

You are all way too rough on Shaun.

He is one of the hardest working members of the team. If you're not there for every play you won't make any mistakes.

As Woody Allen famously said: 80% of success is showing up.

Mate I agree that mass sackings are not needed. However, these mistakes should not happen in first grade.

Sure, a player can make a simple error from time to time. SKD does it virtually every week.

He came up with another shocker last week. Dropping it cold on a hit up with nobody near him.

Thanks for that. Like I said I couldn't remember when it happened. I've always been an SKD fan too and even moreso after the 2013 GF. But he certainly can test your patience that's for sure.

SKD has what I call, very poor footballing IQ. Forget the drop balls, look at yesterday when he retrieved a kick about 10 metres from our line in the first half and proceeded to throw a flat pass to an unsuspecting RTS at head hight. He threw one of 2 similar passes last week. Also watch his effort on the first Alex Johnston try. He got sucked infield when GI had the ball leaving his wing deserted and found himself in no mans land in the in goal. When GI ran through McIlwrick, SKD who was not far away just stopped and watched him run away. It was left to Sam Moa to run 50 metres and try and tackle Johnston near the touch line.

I agree with those above that it is not time for mass sackings, nor SKD's sacking just yet but I wouldn't even contemplate negotiations with him for next season. He would right near the bottom of the list in terms of priorities to retain. He has far too many fundamental weaknesses that will never go away, he simply doesn't have it upstairs to overcome.

Geez I hate it when the Roosters lose to the vermin.
I hate it too & mistakes are so in our face when it's us & them

But given the $hit performance the result almost flattered us

Mate we all see it differently I guess.

Some saw Evans drop as the turning point, some saw SKiDs drop, some saw the chargedown, some saw the missed tackles that led to tries, some JWHs penalties.

What im trying to say is not one incident alone is to blame for that loss over 80mins.

They beat us by 8 so SKiDs drop alone meant squat overall to the end result.

And Walker dropped the ball over the line, albeit a difficult catch, that if caught negated SKiDs drop. And Gurgess dropped one over the line too.

Its only round 2. We pushed the premiers and we didn't play very well overall. Im sure we will improve.

Yes I agree SKiD can find a dumb error often. He has also saved us at times and even helped us win games over the years.

I look at things over a season/career. And before I call for someone to be dropped I expect to see a replacement who will improve the team. I don't see who there is to replace SKiD ATM.

The coach has my trust. He knows the squad, hes with them every day and he has proven so far he has faith in blokes who we question on these forums.

As fans we vent and react. Coaches cant do that.

I wont complain if we re-sign or flick SKiD. The coach will know whats best going forward.

                            Go Easts.

Surely keeping Maloney and some of our young forwards are a bigger priority than SKD.

There are plenty of good young wingers out there at half the price.

Whilst I agree with most of your post mate SKiD overcame his weaknesses in the 2013 GF, when playing with a busted jaw, he finished a sublime backline movement to score the go ahead try that ultimately led to a great result for us fans.

Imagine he wasn't able to finish that game???

Yes he dropped a sitter yesterday.

But when it counted, against all odds, the bloke showed poise and skill and guts and he had an IQ, to deliver us one of the greatest moments we may ever see.

His defence has also improved dramatically over the past few seasons. That IMO shows hes smarter than hes given credit for. And hes obviously coachable.

I reckon the coach will know SKiDs is a bit of a confidence player. And he will know himself he farked up heavily and will be dirty on himself. I reckon they will move on from that error.

I wonder will some of our fans??? (not aimed at you Coqqers that comment)
