It would have been good if coach had mentioned exactly what is wrong with TC - same injury not right or another one altogether.

puts a lot of pressure on Pearce to be that creative spark, wouldn't want to be Justin Carney with Braith/Maubs feeding him the ball he is likely to catch a cold out on the wing.

one big concern for us this week is the Broncos young speed men out wide, wouldn't surprise to see us concede a few tries via grubber kicks behind BJ/Carney.

IMO Carney isn't out because of injury it is more his mental state he is clearly in a bad place at the moment and the threat of jail time has really shaken him up.
Thanks for the above fletch, very interesting stuff on TC and you are spot on with your assessment of the team and the coming game.

He's done nothing this year because of injury and personal issues. He actually wont be missed this week as he isnt really doing anything worth missing.

Also....could you please read the forum in future and check the topic isnt already covered before creating the fifth thread on the issue. Thank you.

Sydney Roosters coach Brian Smith has made some late changes to his side to play Brisbane Broncos on Saturday night, with five-eighth Todd Carney withdrawing due to injury.

Roosters captain Braith Anasta will move to five-eighth while Tom Symonds moves from the bench into the starting side. It appears Carney is battling a groin injury from earlier in the season.

"We've got a big job ahead of us on Saturday night," Smith said, recognising that Brisbane haven't conceded a second-half try this season.

The magistrate erred in her ruling.

Carney is not facing gaol time at worst he'll lose his licence thanks to the hate campaign by Ray Hadley.

Can't wait to see Tommy back on the left fringe drifting across the field.

Without a doubt Carney is our most talented player but I reckon our chances of winning this game have just gone up a bit.

We need Carney fit and mentally right to beat St Illawarra the following week.

Would you really change the team if we beat the Broncos (2nd best team of the first 5 rounds and statistically the best defensive side thus far). It's been said Carney is still one month away from being fit so could you really ignore two wins without him?

                      I tend to agree

I think it's because getting Anasta out of the forwards and replacing him there with someone who will do the work required is a bigger plus for us than having him back at 5/8 is a minus

Exactly. I backed the Broncs as soon as I saw the odds on Tuesday but I am less confident now.

He is our X factor. We can't beat St George without a player of his calibre. They are too solid for us.

After the Tigers game we all thought he was almost back. Last week he had a pretty ordinary lead up with his court case. Any human could be excused for being off their game.

As for Brisbane, I think their form is suspect.

They lost their first game at home to North Queensland. They then beat an out of form Canberra side, scraped home against an ordinary Gold Coast team, and did the same against an average Penrith team. They were a little lucky against Newcastle on Monday night also.

They haven't played anyone of note thus far and they have to back up on the Saturday.

                          Easts to win.

I can't understand how we can be favourites for this game and i hate it but our chances have definitely increased with Todd out

Possible actually... they often hide these kinds of things as "injuries."
I wouldn't be surprised if Todd never injured his groin and has been in detox the whole time...

I don't mind this - it needed to happen. Unfortunate for Carney, but he has very obviously been playing injured and Braith is definitely a more than adequate five-eighth. Gives Symonds a run as well.

Next change (I'm hoping for) is Linnett in, Aubusson to backrow, Nuuausala to bench, Riddell out. Aubusson is not a centre. Nuuausala is not a starting backrower. Riddell is no longer a first grader. Linnett is an awesome young talent.

                                That would make my day.
