  • second phase play........

    Where is our offload and second phase play? the last 4 games it has been nothing like last season....

    I think our game plan more recently has been to complete sets and to control the ball; ie play percentage football.

    We didn't see many offloads today probably for that reason

      Can't expect them to be on to of their game this early in the season plus arguably our best offfloader was out today. I'll take any points we can get now no matter how... We'll peak late in the year when we need to.

        tries just come with possession at this time of year for diciplined teams...not really any need to throw it around

          Looking at the stats from SMH, apparently we:

          * only completed 68% (25/37) of completions to the tigers 71% (27/38)
          * Made 13 errors to the tigers 11
          * received 7 scrums to the tigers 12

          With those stats, chook norris may be close to the mark, even though "apparently" the percentages/stats show we were less in control of the ball than the tigers.

          Could also be that the game plan did not warrant a focus on second phase, in other words, the tigers are soft up the middle, so, as we saw, we just needed to make inroads up the guts and we got what we required, the result.

          Just on a side, the Offload stats were Roosters 8 and Tigers 19

            the final stats dont show it, but the replay showed that close to half-time we had completed roughly 14 of 17 sets.. a couple of errors close to our line, compounded by fatigue, worsened the stat however..
