  • Selection heartbreak!!!!!

We have TC and WATTS (piggy to go if he hasnt left yet) to come back which are givens for the team. But what about Conn and JCarney?
JCarney is a machine and would pair perrett perfectly. I would like to see him in the side to see what he has to offer, but at a cost of who? BJ brings so much to the table in the form of athleticism and enthusiasm as does kaine both with never give up attitudes. They are both hungry, BJ with his running as those legs just keep motoring and kaine in open play as he throws his body on the line and plays the whistle everytime. As far as Conn is concerned he was our best forward during the finals series and i still think that even though JWH had one of his best games for us Conn should be there atm as he is a better player, makes more metres, has a great offload, gives away less penalties and is solid in defence just without the hype.....

Imagine next year with cherro back, cordner, ford, tasi and arona in the mix...WTF!!!! Where has all this depth come from???

Peter osullivan needs a 20 yr ext in my opinion!!!

I'm pretty sure J Carney will be competing for Linnett's spot at centre.

Why wouldn;t JC be competing for BJ's spot? JC is a winger by trade

I'm a JC fan but I'm afraid he'll need to wait for his opportunity through injury or his form demanding selection.

I believe Carney played centre in the trial against the Dogs? A couple people whose opinion I respect have suggested to me he is well-suited there. I also have a feeling Smithy has high expectations for BJ as a winger.

I could well be wrong, but that's the way I read it.

Maybe for Newtown to get back into the mix. I can't see him replace any of the backline at this stage. Smithy loves both BJ and Linnett. A fit Carney is a huge plus for our backline depth; something missing from last year. He will get his chance at some point. I wonder if he can pass from dummy half because he can sure have impact running from dummy half and he defends very well. That is of course IF we need a back-up for Friend.

For those of us who missed it, did he say anything else of interest?

BJ comes in too far...he's not quick enough to come in then race back out..souths would have scored all night if they kept passing out to his wing, and other teams will score twice as easy if something isnt done...yeah i was calling him manu leilua and BJ Vatuvai all night in attack but in defence he needs to sharpen up....i would have him in the centres and linnett on the wing....jc might just have to bide his time imo

I consider BJ a very good rangy second rower.

He is great in attack but pretty poor in defense and I believe that if Phil Graham was fit he would have played in the GF.

i agree, he would have had nightingales number for sure. BJ needs a lot more experience to be playing there proficiently and hopefully its not too costly.

                        no hope

Linnett has the 3 all year

I get the impression from some of your other posts that you're well informed. But "all year"? Bit of an early call isn't it?
