8. What would be an appropriate punishment for Todd Carney's latest indiscretion?
ME: The kid made a bad decision like a lot of people do. The fanfare around it is perplexing; I scratch my head. I can't believe the amount of commentary around it - it's ridiculous.
SW: Tough one, because I'm not joining the multitudes of people on their moral high horses. The issue of his drinking is a personal matter and he needs to fix that. With the drink-driving indiscretion, if it was 11pm and he jumped into his car, I would have been happy if they'd thrown the book at him … I don't think we should hang a young bloke [in this instance].
WP: I'm happy with the punishment that was handed out.
TR: Why don't you leave him alone? He hasn't done anything gravely wrong to rugby league. David Gallop does a reasonable job running the game but when he comes out and says ''I need to have a talk to that boy,'' who is he? God or something? As far as I'm concerned, a bit of a clip across the ear from his club would have sufficed. He didn't kill anybody; the kid's done bugger-all wrong.
DA: The NRL and the Roosters have handled it in a very professional and transparent manner.
WOW the first bit of sanity that I have read regarding the incident. I take my hat of to the intelligence and objectivity shown by these guys in their statements. Well done!
