  • 2011 Draw Question

    Probably an easy one...

If your looking at the 2011 draw ( http://www.nrl.com/news/latest/tabid...x?newsid=60579 ) it has us playing the Warriors on the weekend of Round 5: April 8 - 11.

My question is this? How do you know what day of the round we will be playing and secondly, what ground we will be playing at? Do the Warriors always play at the one field?

Also for those who have travelled to NZ for a game before, whats the accomodation recommendation? And what Bays do I buy tickets in to sit with the Chookies Fans?

    Thanks in advance

    John

im not too sure, but i don't think the days have been released yet nor the grounds

but it most likely will be at Mt Smart, being the Warrior's home ground

It will almost certainly be a Saturday 5.30 (Sydney time) or Sunday 12.00 (Sydney time). Slim chance of being a Channel 9 game.

They will certainly be playing at Mt Smart Stadium in Auckland.

The club normally organises a bay for members at these interstate/overseas games but ticketing details won't be released until the start of next season. Ring the club a bit closer to the date.

This is also a heritage round match. Why are we playing the Warriors in Heritage round?

A lot of the games that round replicate old Grand Finals.

            Roosters vs. Warriors 2002.
St George vs. Canterbury 1979, 1985.
            Penrith vs. Canberra 1990, 1991.
            Cronulla vs. Manly 1973, 1978.
            Melbourne vs. Parramatta 2009.
            Balmain vs. Souths 1969.

Then Brisbane vs. Newcastle is the two entries to the comp from 1988, North Qld vs. Gold Coast is a Qld 'derby'.

In terms of accommodating meaningful match-ups across the board, I think they've done pretty well.

Much appreciated. I've just bought my season tickets so I'd expect the club to e-mail me more info on interstate/OS games a bit closer.

If there is no info from the club, then you will be able to find out here.

The road trip to NZ is one of the toughest trips in the competition. Does anyone else see the craziness in taking our home game there, and playing 2 games in NZ this season? I would understand if we didn't have a game in NZ whatsoever, but TWO?

Since half our team is from NZ (SKD, Perret, FPN, JWH + More) it would probably see a fair bit of money coming in from the gates. And for the NZ boys it's always nice to be able to play in front of your family.

The game against the Warriers in Christchurch this year pulled near 20,000 fans through the gates in miserable conditions, which is a far better crowd than they would get for the same game in Sydney. So it's a good business decision to play one game a year in Christchurch.

And the Roosters can't control whether they play the Warriers in Auckland, that's a Warriers home game.

The Roosters management need to do what's needed to keep the Club financially viable. Whilst some of our games draw reasonable crowds, some draw very pisspoor ones.

I understand the financial benefits. But they are 2 extremely tough road trips!
