  • Backline for 2011

    1. Mini
    2. Leilua
    3. Linnett
    4. SKD
    5. Perrett
    6. Carney
    7. Pearce

Graham ??? - could be gone
    J. Carney - quality player but will he fully recover from a major injury
    Jones - meh
Naughton - haven't seen him play but has had raps on him
Ford - jury out if he is up to first grade standard
NYC players - the uncertainty under 20s moving to first grade

No doubt the Grand Final starters will get first crack. But unlike the excitement I get for our forwards depth, I get no movement at all from our depth in the backline. In fact it's more of a cold pool shrinkage.

I wouldn't have BJ playing on the wing tbh. If Graham sticks around then he gets it, otherwise i'd be giving it to either Carney or Naughton

I'd say that would be the squad with the wing being covered by Carney/Naughton with Kheirallah as back-up(although still slightly undersized).

I think we may still be in the market for some three-quarters.

I hope so JT. One or two injuries and we could be shuffling players around each week.

I thought at the start of the year that three-quarters would be our real problem.

I was eating my words until the GF.

Poor BJ was terribly caught out in defence for the two "tries" down his side.

Linnett and SKD went very well in the centres. I am not convinced we are looking for centres. We are clearly in the market for wingers.

Many people didn't agree with me last time but I reckon Perrett is no certainty of being on the wing by season's end.

I am one who doesn't agree with you.

The coach and rest of the team love him.

Geez mate, totally agree, but I said the same thing about BJ on Monday and was crucified for it. In the lead up to the GF he was widely marked as a defensive weakness as his positional play suggested against the Titans. We need a big speedster on one wing with Sammy on the other in my opinion. It would be nice if Uate was available. That try he scored against us from the kick-off was amazing.

We all knew that BJ could be a problem - but the point is that we had no other option.

                    Don't worry about Uate.

I would be happy with Noa Nadruku at the moment.

Exactly but we do for next season. Where do you see BJ fitting in? I see him as a versatile bench player for at least another year if not two.

                        A great bench player.

If we are planning to start him as winger then we have to do a lot of work on him over the off-season.

A Nadruku style player would be ok if we could keep him out of trouble. I like those big, fast and strong coconuts. Every team should have one.

                            I mean Nadruku now.

Isn't he about 40 years old at the moment?
