  • The Usual Suspects

I get on here after a loss and the usual suspects are all getting a pasting

SKD - probably best of a bad bunch and the most dangerous player on the field for most of the game, but still slammed by the masses for a pass.

Braith - again played pretty well in a bad team created a few chances made a break ball doesn't come wrapped in a box for the young bloke again slammed

Jones - most weeks slammed for not doing what SKD can do, however can pass and can tackle

Reality is we got owned in the forwards, we might all have hard on's for JWH, Symonds, Maubs and FPN but they got completely dominated. The only player to bend the line was Ryles (who would have thought)

Roll the clock back a week and these same guys were running out of the line in both attack and defense.

It's ok to blame guys when they make mistakes but the facts are the we usually struggle when the forwards fail to lay the platform and on the weekend we had a number of sets where we strggled to get outside the 30m

Maubs is a bit of a luxury player, he's probably the best defender technically in our team but for an80 minute player doesn't make a huge amount of tackles and certainly doesn't make a lot of metres. This is where we've been let down imo and it's why we can't play Guerra, Symonds or FPN as the other backrower whilst Maubs is in the side certainly not until we get better front rowers anyway. None of the 3 I mentioned really have the workrate to make massive metres each game.

I'd seriously consider moving Hargreaves to the backrow. He'd surprise a few on here with some of his workload in the 20's when he played in the backrow... I also think he'd be much more effective running on the fringes and I've been saying it all year.

Here are the stats for the 10 games he played in the backrow (after shifting from the front row at the end of last season)

          Round 13:
          Runs 16
          Metres 150

          Round 14:
          Runs 21
          Metres 137

          Round 17:
          Runs 11
          Metres 90

          Round 21:
          Runs 15
          Metres 111

          Round 22:
          Runs 16
          Metres 122

          Round 23:
          Runs 16
          Metres 123

          Round 24:
          Runs 16
          Metres 126

          Round 25:
          Runs 19
          Metres 162

          Round Finals:
          Runs 15
          Metres 142

Our go forward has been our problem all year, getting out of our own end. Myles and Ryles just isn't enough and I can't see them getting any support from the current bunch of backrowers, Masoe has shown glimpses but I certainly think Hargreaves could be the answer.

IMO we can always shift and swap depending on the team.

If we need to field a large forward pack:

                    11. Hargreaves
                    12. Aubusson
                    13. Myles

If we need a more mobile pack:

                    11. Symonds
                    12. Aubusson
                    13. Myles

the forwards run around the park like men possessed against the titans.
They thought they just had to turn up against the sharks to win.
That and the weather fell into the sharks hands.
                          And they are injury free.
