  • This season?

Knowing how hard it is to go back to back, would only a Premiership define this as a successful season in your opinion??
I believe so. I honestly believe our roster is clearly the best, along with possibly the best coach we should simply win it from here. Planets don't align like this often in terms of talent ( salary 'crap' ) and I think we need more than 1 Premiership to show how successful we have been. We dominated in the early /mid part of the 2000's and it still irks me we only have one premiership to show for it. To give away the most penalties and receive the least , yet still achieve what we have, this stat alone shows truly how much better than the rest we are.

Given that we are going into a prelim at full strength, anything less than a GF appearance will be a failure.

Given the teams on the other side of the draw, not winning the game on Sunday week would probably also represent failure.

    So, yes.

Let me put it this way: Based on your original argument, if the Roosters find themselves in exactly this position in 2015 - and shooting for 3 premierships in a row - would you call them failures if they bowed out at this stage?

No, because we would have 2 Premierships to show for this era!
You obviously missed the point. Do you think the 1 Premiership we have for the 2000's shows how successful we were?

To be honest we have come up against some really strong opposition in the last 2 weeks , Riff have worked hard to be where they are with a busted roster which are playing to their Strengths, Cowboys have a balanced of power and skill and have the wood on Souths,( if not for our slip up against Riff should have seen a Riff/Roosters GF ) .
This week against Souths we are in a Battle of who wants it worse, at this point the Indications are towards Souths , however our strength is being able to do enough to win in a scrape, we are battle hardened.
In answer to your question about wether this is a successful year on not ? Yes it has been, don't under sell the quality of the opposition and their will to beat the best- US.
WE play Sport cause anything can happen and often does - bounce of the ball is hard to control.

Last year, I think we were clearly the best team. We deserved and won the title.

This year, I don't think we have been clear cut as the best team. I think those honours are split between Roosters and Souths. Whoever loses this weekends game will feel like the year is a failure. Whoever wins this weekends game will probably win the premiership.

Both teams are at full strength and Souths are the favourites with the bookies, so obviously the general public thinks they are the better side. I think we have the ever so slightly better roster but Souths will have more motivation. Souths will also have more pressure too, as the last 3 years they have been in a position to win the title but still have not even played in GF.

I think whoever wins this weekends match will be the team that deserves to win the comp.

I don't know about souths having more motivation? I really feel our team are very aware every time they run out it could be the last time they run out with mini and sbw? both mega motivating men in our team

If we don't win the comp it will be a huge missed opportunity and I will consider the season a failure.

This is Rugby League there are more factors in the equation than just positive opinion, if you try your best and leave it all on the field , you can do no more, be happy. For over a hundred years this has gone on.

There will be a lot of disappointment for some, because this generation thinks that everyone that plays is entitled to a trophy for participating , in this GF you need not only to bring your A game but your will to win.
