  • When did the web site.....

    Turn so horribly BigPond?

I havent visited the official site since you were charged to post on a forum about 3 or 4 years ago.

But can someone tell me what happened to Dane's 4mation website and why Easts have gone completely dud and unprofessional and become a myspace/bigpond site? Holy sheet thats poor.....

Apparently the NRL has forced all clubs to adopt that Telstra format.

That's not entirely true. Souffs opted to keep their own site and not take the cash

The new layout is terrible. The animation for weekly teams is often misconstrued, there is no contracted player list at all (although many of the other team sites incorporated this in player profiles) and navigating around the site is a pain in the backside.

The old layout wasn't perfect, but it was FAR better than this garbage.

It does nothing to instill any individuality for the teams that have opted for this layout.

The playing roster is not the only part of the Roosters that needs a wake up call.

The management/media/marketing side gets a real shake up as well.

The roosters site is amateurish at best and has little or no content of interest or relevance.

Not the image one would expect from a supposedly professional organisation.

The Roosters have really turned mediocrity into an art form, on and off the field.

They've signed Brian Smith to improve on field performance, but who's been entrusted with keeping an eye on the lunatics running the marketing/media assylum??

              NC,

with the NRL taking over the running of the Web site for 15 of the 16 teams, there are alot of restrictions in place regarding the layout and look of the site.

The Business desicion was made by those that have now left to have the Telstra/NRL homogonised site as our home page.

you can thank Fisk for what we have now.

SM, surely someone in our current administration has the power to change or improve the look and content of the Club's main website.

Blaming past employees for bad decisions is easy but doesn't solve the ongoing issue that the website is nowhere near as good as what it used to be.

Like the rest of the Club - it's gone backwards in recent times.

It's time for the people running this Club to take control of its own destiny and future - on and off the field.

Well they would have handed over all their online activity to telstra, it would basically mean a rebuild of the site.

So the costs to break the contract, the cost again to rehire people to run the site would probably be higher than what it costs to run it.

                  Only guessing here

MM, you probably already know this, the vermin have two sites - one is the NRL "official" version here ...

                    http://www.therabbitohs.com.au/

... and the other is their own non BigPond site here ...

                    http://www.rabbitohs.com.au/

Best of both worlds I guess.

I liked the old Roosters site which you can see a partial replica of here ...

It's a really worry when the professionalism of the Vermin put us to shame isn't it.

That's when you realise just how far off the pace the Roosters actually are in terms of promoting themselves.

Thanks for that TLR. I was not aware that souths had the official NRL site. The links on that site (such as for membership) take you straight to there own non Bigpond site.

While our site has the NRL layout, our lazy marketing team would still be responsible for the content. Why we have a link on our site to Fitzy's Shave (held on 5 Sept) is a complete joke. The lack of any attention to detail reeks of laziness and incompetence.

I understand what your saying, but in defence of Fitzys shave, the webpage is open for donations up until January......
Not that I beleive that Roosters even realise that.......

The homogeneous websites for all the teams is one of the results of a back end push for membership data centralisation leading to jointly owned marketing tools. It is connected to the NRL's push to take back ownership of ticket sales data from Ticketek.

it is a good commercial idea clumsily executed by Telstra and the NRL digital team.

our site sucks. i never use it.
