Releasing players like Wells and Tago in order to sign LOD and Mini on one year contracts just seems dumb, IMO.

I would re-sign Liu, Wells, Tago and maybe Mini.

Seluini and Bosden are reserve graders, and LOD did his job, time for him to move on. We have plenty of hookers to cover Friend if he were to get injured, such as Mortimer, Kara, Alex Thomas and Brad Deitz. And we have an influx of backrowers to cover Bosden.

It's now time for players like Pearce, JWH, Friend, Cordner, Aubo and FPN to really stand up with their leadership.

Wells and Tago won't win us a comp.

But Mini and LOD will be crucial cogs in a back to back premiership winning team.

So it's an easy choice for mine.

LOD is a very hard and violent man that opposition players upon seeing his name in the lineup sigh......FMD not this carnt.

Henare is a keeper, LOD's replacement was found in Napa, If Mini doesn't play in 2014 he should be a coach/mentor for Sheck.. FPN needs to put on 8kegs and move into the front row allowing us to use our backrow stocks.. With our re and new signings I see a dynasty that will last many years..

Wells and Tago won't be on top 25 contracts so it's irrelevant.

Would be nice to re-sign both.

Henare wells has good pace and has bulked up in recent times, if I'm not imagining things. He has a good sprinting style, similar to an Israel Dagg, for those who watch the other code. He can run good lines and is deceptively quick. He has been playing well in the NSW cup and wouldn't be too far away from making his debut. A better player this season than Oldfield imho.

LOD would be worth another season also. I thought he kept his critics on here very quiet.

Sel and bosden need to go. Not worth re-signing.
How funny is it that people last year, myself included were suggesting that we release friend and give the starting role to sel. hahaha . Poor bugger can't even get a start in nsw cup.

Isaac Liu would definitely deserve a one year contract at least. I thought he was very impressive and was good off the bench in the matches he played in.

                      Mini will stay for sure.

Tago I haven't seen much so I can't make a judgement on, but trent will know best if we need him or not for next year.
                      Comment of the year:

Andrew Johns, Semi-Final vs North Queensland ,

"It's touched Lui's hand and travelled forward but that's not a knock on"

A big worry in my opinion...

                        Roosters cut Penfold
The Roosters have made a significant change to a key element of their back-room staff - the head of their high-performance unit, Lachlan Penfold, has been told he will not have his deal renewed. It is unclear whether the embarrassing situation which resulted in players being blood-tested by a company not connected with the club led to his demise. The results of those tests ended up on a known criminal's phone. What is clear - Penfold is considered one of the best, if not the best, in his field. The Storm were keen on his services to replace Alex Corvo, who has joined the Broncos, and there was interest from Parramatta. But that was all when Penfold still had a gig with the Roosters. It seems he may be headed for the AFL. The Roosters are going to rely on Keegan Smith.

Keegan Smith gets a lot of positive media coverage but is he the man? Have heard he's a bit overrated by someone else in the business. Our fitness did a lot to help us win so losing the H-P manager is not good.

Honestly out of the players listed I really hope we keep LOD.

He is the type of player that could play for another year easily and well into his 30's like Jeremy Smith or Petero. I mean he doesn't rely on speed or skill he is just one tough bastard.

You need these blokes in your side. I have no doubt if we don't keep him another team will get him and he will be great for them.

                            All the boys speak very highly of Keegan Smith, he's got his own unique philosophy on how players should train and I think that's why Robbo likes him. Some good articles on him;

                            High praise from SBW
Sonny Bill Williams is far more comfortable talking about others and he is glowing when it comes to the Roosters strength and power coach Keegan Smith. ‘‘He’s got me through this season and I’ve never felt stronger,’’ he said. ‘‘I normally don’t do weights, but the program he has set for me has been great. Keegan is great, as are the physios the Roosters have. They are as good as it gets.’’ Keegan is the son of former coach Brian Smith. He preaches a mix of hippy values and science. The weights program he has set up for the Roosters has its origins in work that Ben Johnson’s coach Charlie Francis used.
‘‘It’s a discipline relating to strength work with the glutes, hamstrings and lower back,’’ Smith said. ‘‘League is a power game and that’s the area to work on. I think that has helped Sonny in a big way. He had knee problems in years gone by and this has helped out with that.’’ He also offers advice when it comes to diet and recovery. ‘‘I encourage the players to look at natural alternatives rather than pharmacists’ stuff when it comes to pain management,’’ he said. ‘‘Also I place a big emphasis on a good clean diet ... the best meat, plenty of vegetables, cutting down on sugar. It makes a huge difference.
Keegan blogged on his dad’s website – Smithyspeaks. Writing about SBW and what made him great he said: ‘‘It’s that mix of confidence and uncertainty, belief and nerves, it’s his sense of self-importance and his extremely humble nature. I feel blessed to work with one of the greatest players in the modern game. But more than that, I feel blessed to be friends with a guy that plays without fear or restrictions and constantly challenges himself to move out of his comfort zone. How many of us are willing to move jobs once we find a position that we are comfortable with and a wage we survive on? How many of us gym lovers are willing to learn gymnastics or yoga? How many world-class team sport athletes risk their reputation going into individual sports, let alone a combat sport like boxing?’’

Most pundits view the appointment of new coach Trent Robinson, and the accompanied exit of Brian Smith, as the key to the Sydney Roosters' rise from 13th on the NRL ladder to grand finalists.

But through Brian's son Keegan, the name Smith has also been at the fore of the Roosters' marked improvement this season.

On the field, Robinson has added much defensive steel but, off it, Smith has brought about just as much change.

That is the opinion of Roosters centre Shaun Kenny-Dowall, who says strength and power coach Smith has helped transform the side into a more professional outfit in his first year at a NRL club.

"He's had a different approach in the gym and he really wanted us to work on our midsection and legs - more Olympic lifting, deadlifts, snatches," Kenny-Dowall said ahead of Sunday's premiership decider against Manly.

"Some of the boys hadn't really done that stuff before, so it was a long process.

"He was real patient ... and I think it's starting to pay off now. All the boys got used to it and have become faster and stronger as well."

Smith previously worked for French side Catalans Dragons for two years in the Super League.

Kenny-Dowall added that Smith's diet plans had also made him a better player.

"He's really got the boys eating well ... some of the boys are in the best shape of their lives; not only the diet - our preparation in general," the 25-year-old said.

"Becoming a full-time professional, it's something that has definitely turned around at this club this year."

Fitzy I also would liked to have kept LOD, but I have been told that he has signed for 2014 with cronulla catfi$h. The catfi$h already had a great forward pack this year and now with LOD are going to take some stopping next year!
The year 2013 marks the beginning of the Roosters next 'decade of excellence', and it will prove to be more successful than the last!
