i know the 50/50 calls have not been going our way all season bar the dylan farrel push in the back of toupou last week but im quite concerned that the refs are allowing head highs and swinging arms to go unpunished. there were 3 last week and at least 4 this week and to be honest its only a matter of time till one of our players gets seriously injured. while i admire that our boys have the class not to stay down the club need to address this with the nrl. the bullshit penalties forward passess and offsides etc etc i can deal with the blatent cheaps shots i cant and its only a matter of time till a ref cops a bottle to the head! im just saying... enough is enough we have earned the right to win so we deserve a fair go

That would be a terrible thing to have to witness. It would be so undeserved and I would so not enjoy watching it repeatedly on instant replay.

If you don't like it... then why would you watch it repeatedly on replay?

Nothing 50/50 about the decision last week you're referring to.

More like 100/0 as it was a clear shoulder charge on Tupou.

The bigger issue I have with players staying down is the NRL brought in the rule that the video ref can only rule on head highs if it's worthy of going on report to discourage players from staying down. Yet all it has resulted in is refs putting a whole lot of head high tackles that wont even get a second look from the Match Review committee... e.g Mitchell Pearce's tonight.

The refs made a joke of themselves in the sharks cowboys game with the Greg Hartley moment and the timekeeping which was reminiscent of b grade park football officials - actually thats unfair on park football officials. Anderson and the NRL needs to get a grip on this. The refereeing of the Manly - Easts game continues to be full of arbitrary decisions which threatened to spoil what was a classic contest.

At the end of the day the defensive work of the Magnificent Seventeen could not be overcome.

i agree. it was 50/50 that we were going to get awarded it though. i was surprised they just didnt award the try.

The Pearce penalty was a joke - I really think it was borderline penalty at best. I am comfortable with our team taking a stance of not lying down for penalties. Matai has mad a fine art of it and is an embarrassment to the game.

Matai's theatrics are embarrassing for him and for Manly is general. They are team that pride themselves on playing tough and for a player of Matai's calibre to continually peacock his injuries is a joke.
I accept that he plays with an ongoing shoulder/neck injury, but suck it up for goodness sakes!

Matai has a dud shoulder. He clutched his shoulder - not his chin. The ref was weak - not matai

I've acknowledged that he plays with a dud shoulder.
When he first sat down, he didn't clutch his shoulder. That was at the end so he could try and save face.

Matai was clutching at his neck and chin.
While the refereeing was not great last night, some of the lesser idiots (for example Perenara and his mate from the Cowboys game) would have completely lost it and the game would have been destroyed

You'd think Matai was about to be carted off on a stretcher .....next set of six, he's throwing himself into ....we see this every week from him, his recuperative powers are phenominal !
