Got to dominate the grind before you can start throwing offloads. We spent a lot of the game coming out of our own half and as such had to play a conservative game.

We were off last night due to a combibation of factors, that's all there is to it. It's one we're just better off forgetting about there's nothing we can take out of that game, good or bad. It's just one of those days, thankfully we still got the two points.

in years gone by, these are the sort of games we would end up losing 40-12 or something of the like.

edit: in fact in 2011, we played the raiders at the SFS in round 17, and with state of origin players out and mark kierallah playing fullback we lost 38-12.

Mini, SBW, LOD and Cordner out...

I think we simply got ahead early then played safely. Lots of penalties went against us and Shillington/Papalii were playing decent games so we were in trouble when Cordner got injured and Arona had to slot in.

Our ad-hoc centre/wing combinations allowed Fergo to run amok and look a LOT better than he really is. Not quite sure why, but we seemed to crab across and try to play the ball down the left side? I think it was SKD doing that too *not quite sure why he was on the right side of the field in order to do it when he was left wing... go figure Skidzie.*

PS - The ex Roosters did us proud!!!

1 Point goes to the wanka Raiders fan in front of me and to the left (in the Roosters stand by himself) who potentially prevented a try by holding onto a footy he caught and throwing it onto the field as a 2nd ball when we had space. Little grinning wanka should have copped a shillo-esque punch in the head for that.

As it stands our record against the other top four teams - barring Manly - is ordinary.

They're who we should be comparing ourselves too.

Manly are the form top 4 team at the moment, they had their injuries early, and now are fit and the stewarts are looking dangerous again. Raiders trouble most teams, be interesting how they go against raiders in canberra.

cruising to victories is not always the best prep either, winning ugly is necessary sometimes too. Injuries usually determine who goes well in the finals.

Look guys, we won. Ugly and not many positives. I think someone summed this up by saying this is the game we had to lose. In other words, we still won with Canberra getting penalties, Roosters with injuries and positional re-shuffling. Even Robbo said we were flat this week. You can't peak every week. We'll be better in weeks to come.

I'm really sorry for Boyd and we are better with him in our team than not. No doubt. But we can still win this comp without him. This team has been coached to have versatility and coverage. I'm sure Robbo was not happy with the performance but at the same time walked away relieved that we can play so poorly and have our preparation so disrupted yet still win.
