After reading the article, it doesn't seem to say that he is signed to SA Rugby. He was just invited to a Seven's camp by the SA Seven's coach. Hopefully this is just done as a reward for a good season and not because he has signed something with SA Rugby. After reading that, I'm still pretty confident we'll have him next year. The media would have been onto this if he had signed elsewhere.

Did you read this? Not conclusive but does lend weight to why they would invite him... They WOULD NOT reward someone who has signed for a rival code.Originally posted by footy View PostAfter reading the article, it doesn't seem to say that he is signed to SA Rugby. #3 gecko: Du Plessis changed his mind on advice that there were serious problems at the Sydney Roosters at the moment. He is joining his dad in Jo’burg and has signed for the Lions. He is something special though. So explosive....

In that case, it seems we've lost a very good player of the future. But we've already got players that were going to compete with him for a spot in the backline eg. Williamson, Moeakiola, Earl, Linnett and they are all players with a heap of potential. They are all in front of him at the moment.Originally posted by Cockadoodledoo View PostDid you read this? JP Du Plessis has been tipped to be a future Springbok but I just saw the SA Schools Rugby team for 2009 and he is did not make it. This team was chosen from "Craven Week", which to my understanding is basically like our National Championships with the different states. I know he was playing for sure and was not injured. This is the same tournament POS scouted him from. It just interests me that a bloke tipped to be a future Springbok did not make the Schools Rugby team in SA and this team was chosen before he signed with the Roosters so it couldn't have been that. Here is the team.

Also another thing, the other South African player who POS mentioned earlier this year to be exceptional and from what I gather he was a fullback, I'd stick my neck out and say that player was probably Riaan Britz who is the SA Schools fullback. Done a bit of research on him and he seems to be a great player and highly rated in SA.Last edited by footy; 09-25-2009, 02:29 AM.

The fullback POS was talking about was Craig Barry, not Riaan Britz.Originally posted by footy View PostJP Du Plessis has been tipped to be a future Springbok but I just saw the SA Schools Rugby team for 2009 and he is did not make it. So has this bloke backed out of the deal or what?
I wouldn't blame his family if they encouraged him to do so, after the season of off field incidents and ill discipline the Roosters have had. Not exactly a situation you want to send your 18-20 year old son O/S to become a part of.
And they wouldn't know enough about the individuals involved to understand that the punting of Farkwit Fittler for Brian Smith means that the off field ill discipline is unlikely to continue (we hope).
