I get the feeling Smiffy may have many sons, he most likely is quite the ladies man! Apparently Fred is the illegitimate son of Smiffy, unable in the past to get a gig on his coaching team or these days a piece on his column, which may explain he's resentment towards him. Very much the Dr Evil and Scotty type relationship! Whereas I believe that Stsae has more the Dr Evil and Mini Me type of relationship with Smiffy.
