I'm expecting Friend to have a break out year and have coggy singing his praises come September. You would think that Pearce doesn't need to do much to improve now that Anasta is gone.
It's early days I know, but I think Mini will be playing a different role for his team this year, last year when we were going like busteds, he felt as if he had to do everything because hardly anyone else was having a dig, so he was coming into the backline, he was 1st or 2nd receiving, he was desperately attempting tackles which ended up embarrassing him, he was fumbling balls he should have been swallowing because he was thinking about everybody else's game, he was getting caught out of position & not preventing 40/20's again because he was thinking about everybody else's game & not his own!! This year I think he will have more trust in the players around him with Maloney, Jennings, SBW, RTS & now LOD, also it looks like Robbo has actually told all the players what their roles are, especially in defence. I think Robbo will make sure that each player is held accountable to carry out their specific jobs & that includes the skipper. I do think Mini will be a much improved player, now that he doesn't feel as if he needs to try to do everything, just my opinion.

All sounds good but this photo at training worries me.

It could be Roman numerals and he is about to put the touch judge over in the corner...

Or take out a spectator with a speculator.

Try saying that ten times without a breath.

                Im voting for Maubs.

Only cos he's become the anti-Christ.

                Hung out to dry baby.

I get the feeling the change of opinion with Maubs has something to do with the Bosden character. Unmet expectations rears it's ugly head again.

I really hope Maubs proves he isn't finished in our colors. IMO every team needs a player like him. He's like Flanners was, he isn't big enough or fast enough but he is a Footballer and he will bleed for the jumper.

I bet the players love playing along side him.

Sometimes that just doesn't cut it though. Were you calling for him to be made Captain as well?

                    1. Jake Friend - cause he won't have to do all the defence, and the forwards should start to get us over the advantage line, this will give him more time and space to make better decisions.
                    2. Maubs - if we are going forward, as I expect us to be this year, this guy is the best hole finder/runner there is, and Pearceoffjackgibbson will be throwing the passes at those holes.

Guerra is twice the hole runner Maubs is.

Anyone who last year had to run off our 5/8 will be most improved this year.
It's scientifically impossible for Easts to be in Souths' shadow when there's daylight between them and us.
                        Easts to win

Sbw is 10times the hole runner then both of them put together

Guerra has a nice step, and a good 'show and go', but Maubs is quicker with a deft change of angle and pace, which is why he gets through.

Yes I was mate. I still think he'd make a very good captain of a club.

He was the captain in round 1 last year and played a large part in getting us that win, MOtM from memory.

Which part doesn't cut it??? The respect of his peers or that he's a Footballer not an athlete???

I will say if he doesn't perform this season and doesn't get a new deal I won't cry. I will move on.

Fact is he has shown a lot more than either Guerra and Bosden combined. And those two blokes are hailed as starters by many.

I'm not bagging either Guerra or Bosden, I hope they have great seasons and careers also.

I would just like to see Maubs do well and get back to the sort of form he showed before mid last season.

                              It's up to him now.

Was talking with The Brain about this the other day and although they are similar, Flanner's had a bit more size about him than Maubs. He's too slow for the backs and not big enough for the pack imo. Needs to show he can offer something else I'd point him towards the same door as Taka and Cherro.

                                Chook.
