Mason does offer us something, but not at $400k per season.

A $400k player should be scoring tries, setting up tries, stopping tries ....winning you games.
Not playing minimal game time and just going through the motions when he is on the field and occassionally doing something good.

Purely my opinion, Mason seems to require a special set of circumstances to co-exist to perform well and without said circumstances is relegated to passenger. I wonder if the shrink (Novak?) has had a chance to work with Mason on his game and mental approach?

Yes he is worth it. He is one of our few players that consistently have a digg every week. Great talent, still only 20.

Mason made 3 hitups and 7 tackles in 35 minutes.

It's had to rate guys when the whole team's playing like poo.
If you're the attacking weapon of the team and your team's not getting opportunities to attack, then your stats are gonna look bad.

Mason's... I think show why the TEAM is going poorly. We didn't feed the ball to Mason... he's a damn good runner and he got absolutely NO ball! WHY?!?

People love to blame the individuals, but 1 man won't turn around a whole team. To me our success next season will be about how we use what we've got... not how we use somebody else's team (i.e. sacking our players and buying lots of new ones.) Our forward pack's pretty heavy, and has some big names... they SHOULDN'T be the weakest in the NRL!

Our key to winning is to stand by our boys and teach them better TEAM tactics. I think most who have played League at a decent level would agree... the smarter team with the superior game plan always wins. Individuals aren't our issue (I back our boys! Love all of them, we've got the best team in the comp in my view! Don't need to buy out the Dragons and call them the Roosters...) the issue is we're not playing as a team, and have no idea how to adapt to the new rules... somebody's gotta teach us how to play the new brand of League that even crappy teams are smashing us with because we haven't adapted!

Once we can do that... we'll have Carney/Pearce/Anasta as our playmakers (c'mon! Which team has a better 3? Name one!!) Feeding the ball to big guys like Mason and Myles (again... some of the biggest/best forwards in the League) + guys like Minichiello in leading the backs around. Right now... we're just sitting around and expecting the experienced boys to just... score tries outta nowhere due to their freakish ability. Such a tactic will only work in high school League... where 1 big kid with a beard can run through a bunch of little guys still going through puberty. Professional footy... they're all big kids... so it doesn't work that way.

He certainly isn't underrated by the majority on this forum. What is it exactly with him, what has he done to earn the plaudits from many on here. He would have to be the worst kicker in the opposing 20 metre zone in the comp, he rarely finds the in goal, he either kicks too deep and the ball goes dead or he finds an opposition player usually on the full. His general passing game is crap and his reading of a game is very poor. His only real asset is his ability to kick the odd 40-20 but even then he usually finds a Slater or a Stewart on the full. Pearce has potential to be better, but he's nowhere near the player that many people on here say he is, he has a long, long way to go and he'll never be as good as a Johns or Sterling or Hastings for that matter. He may be young but he's had 2 full seasons and his improvement is small in the general scheme of things.
