Up-and-comer Cordner extends commitment with Roosters
    Monday 7 January 2013 9:16 AM

The Sydney Roosters are pleased to announce that up-and-coming second-rower Boyd Cordner has today agreed to an extended deal with the Roosters keeping him at the club until the end of 2016.

“It’s an honour to represent the Tricolours and I’m stoked to be contracted here long term,” said Cordner.

“I love being a part of the team here – the club has been amazing to me since I got here and I’m so happy here. I wanted to stay a Rooster, to keep growing and learning with this group of guys, as we build towards our potential,” added Cordner.

Roosters recruitment manager, Peter O’Sullivan, was also pleased to have Cordner locked into the Club’s plans long-term.

“Boyd has been part of our commitment to develop our young players over the past few years and to ensure that we have him here for a number of years is a major coup for our club and a major vote of confidence in where we are heading.

“Boyd is a tough competitor with true leadership potential for the way he conducts himself on the footy field and at training, and we see him as the cornerstone of our pack for the next decade.”

Still aged only 20, Cordner established himself as a regular first grader in 2012 and has played 29 first grade games to date after making his NRL debut with the club in 2011.

In 2012, Cordner also captained the NSW Blues Under 20s side to victory. He has been named in the Emerging Blues Squad and will attend a three-day camp in Sydney later this month.

This offseason has been about righting the wrongs.

                    JWH, Cordner , RTS re-signed.

                    Anasta, Smith and Noyce gone,

Robbo, SBW, Maloney and possibly Jennings on the way,

Who wouldn't want to be a rooster fan??????????????

The one thing I can say about those calling for Pearce to re-sign is that, I would leave it till midway through next season to do it. I have previously mentioned that pearce has not lived up to his hype yet and hasn't really stood up when it mattered in his career. Everyone, including myself to an extent, is blaming Banasta. Now with Maloney, a new coach and a star signing/s, Pearce has no excuse. The onus is on him to prove he is worth re-signing and this should not be done any sooner than midway through next season IMMTHO.

I've been overseas - when did we lose JWH? And why is that a good thing?
