The Jennings move seems strange, given the amount of mutual respect between Gould and Politis.

If Gould thinks Jennings isn't worth the trouble, why would Politis be interested?

Unless Nick has finally backed off footballing decisions.

I would be in favour of signing Jennings. SBW needs to play in the backrow.

It's a bit hard to judge his potential he has only played limited 1st grade in a losing not well coached side.

SKD was an average player until he was given a proper chance, Maloney is the same.

Im not disputing your opinion but I feel he should be given a shot at the centre position unless they do buy MJ.

A quick look at some social media pages tells me that Tim Lafai (who I also rate very highly, he dismantled us last time he got a look in) and BJ are best buddies...

Henry and Oldfield are both woeful defenders, even at NSW Cup level. Oldfield played centres against Newtown at Henson this year and our left side tore him apart about 3 times. Tupou is possibly the worst of the lot when at centre. If we don't end up getting Jennings I wouldn't be surprised if Usaia O'Sullivan gets a few games in the top grade. He was much better defensively in his time with Newtown and has a pretty good skill set. Not saying he's the answer but he is at least a genuine centre and tbh we don't have many of them. He was pretty impressive when he trialled in the top grade against the Dogs this year. Certainly a better option than a second rower or putting SBW away from the action in the centres. Because don't forget Aiden Guerra does not know how to pass to his left so i don't know how much quality ball SBW would get there.

playing players out of position is stupid.
FPN already spends plenty of time on the wing...and let's bring Braif back for 2014-2015!

No chance. SBW won't be wasted in the centres waiting for other players to create opportunities for him.
He'll be the one creating the opportunities.

                  Agree 100% with you there.
I won't be surprised if Sonny has a few games in the centres to start the season to ease back into league though. I'm not a fan of backrowers playing in the centres it just doesn't work, that's why I don't want to see Aubs or Taka there. I'd like to see how O'sullivan would go in there. We have options in Henry,RTS and O'sullivan, give them a shot and one might surprise us. Moga will take at least 18months to get back to full strength too. I say stick with the youth policy and play the young blokes.
In saying that, if we get Jennings it would be a massive plus for us.

aubs being the committed team player will play where the coach puts him, but our better options right now might be rts or oldfield? although if it means not6 having rts in the squad id want him first, developing beautifully! im told hes had lots of centre time in union, a very similar skill set in fact a bit harder expecting your opposite centre to kick or looking for his breakaway support inside?

Sheck will partner SKD in the centers.Hes not a fullback or a winger. The warriors wernt looking to sign Sheck as a fullback or a winger they were looking at him as a potential center. My opinion after watching him last year is that hes a natural 5/8 he reminds me a lot of a younger benji marshall but playing center will get a bit of ball in his hands and he can start using that wonderfull step he possesses to beat defenders and create overlaps for our wingers who have a bit of pace for a change. He will go better than ok at center next year he will be outstanding in my opinion.

People who are hoping we sign Lafai need to look at where he is in the Dogs pecking order.

He's well behind Perrett in Hasler's mind. And we were (mostly) glad to see the back of him weren't we?

Or are we saying that Hasler doesnt know a footballer when he sees one?

We have a terrible record when it comes to picking up stray dogs.....I'm pretty sure this bloke wouldn't be any different. cheaper maybe, but still average.

Why is it that every year we seem to be thin in the backs? It's happened the last few seasons. During last season, we were thinking that we'd be strong there this year....Tupou, Moga, the good young kids in the 20's.....suddenly one bloke gets injured, a bloke gets sacked (one that isn't really a 3/4 anyway) - and it's panic stations.

Smacks of a lack of planning in my opinion. A plan B? Ths is Easts we're talking about. Of course they don't have a plan B.

Calling me a dope is a bit strong....I've read some of your posts and your iq obviously hovers somewhere around room temperature.

Lafai wasn't injured all last season pal, I watched him play.

He played 5 frst grade games, and 8 in 2011. Was he injured all that year as well?

He's either very injury prone, or not rated. Either way, he's someone we should probably avoid.

If I had to hazard a guess factoring in the cap rise we'd be somewhere between 1-1.2m under the salary cap... I wouldn't rule out anything.
What people seem to be missing is that we released two contracted players, Masoe & Leilua, half way through their contracts, surely we will still be paying a great deal of their money aren't we?? As far as I know they weren't sacked for disciplinary reasons, so we are legally required to pay the guts of their contracts out, so how does that free up all this cash for Jennings or anyone??

The reason they signed Inu and Perrett was that Lafai and a couple of other outside backs were injured and missed the rest of the season.
