    To quit Warriors for Roosters?

Can only be to coach the U20's I imagine.

Rumour from the Mole in Rugby League Week.

Would have put this in the 'who's going to coach the U20's' thread, but it's been bickering/lovefest for the last 3 pages.....

    Assistant coach?

I wouldn't be upset if we picked him up. The young Warriors players seem to like him and were filthy when he wasn't given the top job.

Plus, he did alright for us back in the day too.

The Mole probably got his 'scoop' rumour from here as a few posters mentioned he may be a good pick up.

The under 20s assistant from last year has been appointed as under 20s coach for next year.

He's an ole Rooster boy which reinforces our aim to bring back the "Rooster" to the Roosters.

If he does come give him the under 20's gig.

          Chook.

I remember that day for the Rams when he ran backwards towards his own goal line to run the clock down.

            SKD loved that move

                  http://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/league/...assistant-role

Tony Iro says no to Warriors assistant role..

Rugby League circles are abuzz with the news that Tony Iro will quit the Warriors and is tipped to link with the Sydney Roosters.

The Warriors have been waiting on Iro's decision since he was overlooked for the top coaching job at new Zealand's NRL club.

The Warriors brought in experienced Australian coach Matthew Elliott to take over from Brian McClennan who was sacked with two games left in this year's sorry campaign.

Elliott was wanting Iro to stay on as one of his two assistant coaches but it seems the well-respected New Zealander is going to cross the Tasman.

Iro has been a long and loyal servant at the Warriors and leaves with two years left on his contract.

He groomed the Junior Warriors, coaching them from 2008 before being promoted to assist Ivan Cleary with the first-grade side.

He held that position when McClennan took over from Cleary.

Iro has also been assistant coach with the Kiwis since 2009.

Iro has strong links to the Roosters, having played there from 1994-96, making 60 first grade appearances.

Ironically Iro's move to the Roosters will see him replace Elliott who was an assistant to Brian Smith there this season.

With the Roosters' season ending in disaster, the club have replaced Smith with Trent Robinson has their head coach.

Iro's presence there will give the fashionable Sydney club a strong link back to young talent in New Zealand.

yeh im not aposed to ;i dont know iro; i have always called him that . during one of his games with us he got turned around so many by an attacking player he didt know where he was. i met the gut a few times , seems quiet genuine. his sister was my yellow pages rep.
i think he has a good mind as a coach and with all the jnr kiwis we have in our under 20s and below he should be a good positive .influence

I don't think that little benefit can be understated given the talent that is emerging from the land of the long white cloud.

                        Chook.

On the field Iro was a lazy bastard. On his day, when he decided to show up, he was as devestating as Gordon Tallis.

What job is he exactly taking ? Couldnt be assistant coach, coz we have JT and Fitzy, and people are saying U20s assistant got named U20s coach. So where are we going to fit Iro ?
