Props to The Cool Dude first up. Nailed it.

But lets take a moment to acknowledge that tbe second half performance from Cherry Evans was perfect.

Defused the emotion, kicked well on the last, calmed the frantic farm, didn't give a fark about Souths-Easts nonsense, Jonson's record, an Alliance pitch invasion, the PM or any other distractions.

Just knew what needed to be done to grind out the game and get the W.

    Bravo.

Played well, but watching him live Allianz defensively he looked pretty average. Against a better team we might be calling for Robbo to drop him. Toia helped immensely but Penrith next week will be a real test
      EASTS TO WIN!

He's never going to be Jake Friend. And he might not be the chosen one. Personally I still have serious doubts he can go all the way.

But his cool head won that tonight when it mattered.

        In the clutch.

That's why we brought DCE, game management. Highly unlikely Hugo the hype would have controlled a game like that. Chadley Townend was brought to do the same last yr but chad is no DCE, not even close.

This is what has been missing since C Cronk retired, game management and control. Also lifts other players around him like Sam Walker to new levels.

It would be tough to be a hater.

They wouldn't know how to feel when DCE plays a great game and leads the team to victory.

Yep he was good last night. But hideous against NZ. His defense is a HUGE worry.

We have seen the Roosters do this, win well, and then get beaten badly the next week. And bloody Penrith of all teams.

              Week to week for us.

I agree. I’m stoked how well we played. We really put in 110% but as you say consistency is what we need not just the odd win after a week of harsh criticism. I don’t believe we will make the gf this year but with some luck and a lot of consistency and we might make the 8 but a lot of teams have improved. Was last night a one off? I don’t think we can toss Penrith.

I dont think dce is meant to be a stand out every week .

I think as much as anything he is there to be the ice cold , no emotion , i think easts are by nature a highly emotive team , so are souths, bris , whereas penrith , melb seem colder .

I dont think robbo wnts to take the emotion out of the team , but dce /cronk types just cool it when it needs to be cooled.

When i say emotive , maybe frantic is better think walker, teddy, jwh , spencer, latrell , munster too all highly emotive / frantic types . Dce/cronk/cleary / c smith unemotive.

Fair play to DCE. I'm his biggest critic, but he was much improved last night. So credit where credit's due. That was a very tough performance from the boys to turn that emotion around and get the win, and as you rightly say bansai, his calmness and the way he handled the occasion was at the forefront of it. esp in that second half.
