There’s not a team in the competition that won’t be licking there lips at the prospect of coming up against our forward pack . Yes they work hard but they just won’t scare anyone. They got manhandled last night and the six agains and penalties came from the frustrations of that .
On top of that Robbo as per usual presented a side to kick of the season whose attack looked like they only just met each other . The guys been great for this club but I’m so sick of the way he coaches and prepares this side .

I can't believe that out forward pack was consistently rated in the top 5 of the competition by experts across the league, it's a one man pack Naufahu Whyte that's it.

hard to win games with so little ball. we did some dumb things - angus making contact with the kicker and lindsay conceding a penalty while in possession directly led to two tries, although lindsay was reacting to interference in the ruck and it should have been a six again to us.
still, we were within striking distance up until the last 5 mins of the game. if one of sammy's kicks had come off or if jfh had been penalised for being offside when he intercepted the ball things might have been different.
positives -
pauga is an okay back up centre
marky made too many errors but every time he touched the ball he looked dangerous. he looks set for a big season.
teddy is still teddy
billy was really strong. poor defence for their last try but two strong tries
toops is still very solid.
sammy has the world at his feet.

Wong must play right edge. N Butch is too slow and placed the defensive line under loads of pressure last night.

The channel between DCE and N Butch will be the one that's constantly targeted unless it's fixed!

Can't see how Nat Butcher put our defense line under pressure.
He was beast mode in defense 57 tackles with one miss.
There was a set in the game he did 5 tackles in a row

I did say during the off season that our pack needed an overhaul. Currently too many passengers offering very little! Edges are like a sieve.

Our intimidation factor is a 1/10

Loads of missed opportunities to sign players that would make a difference imo. Mitch Barnett will be another one that we'll turn our nose up at.

He was beast mode in defense 57 tackles with one miss.
There was a set in the game he did 5 tackles in a row

There's no stat for poor reads and failing to check your player which gives the opposition an overlap.

Someone else further down the line get's the black mark beside their name. DCE the scapegoat!

At least Wong reacts and moves quicker than Nat.

Making tackles is just a small part of the equation.

we rushed into upgrading Spencer after 3 games from $500-$800k
Whyte is our only prop
we let go may who was only on $500k who was our best prop

butchers are too small and will never be dominant nrl players only survivers
wong has not developed into the player yet. Is it him or Robbo?

We haven't replaced Terrell May. I wasn't as big on him as others but that's another one of our developed players that the hierarchy let go in favour of a shiny new toy from somewhere else who has proven to be a big let down.

The excuses for the lack of output from Lindsay Collins are laughable as well, in what world is it acceptable for a starting 60 minute prop to make 5 runs all night and the other starting prop has to make 17? We are essentially looking to get all our forward metres from Whyte and Wong that is it.

Yes but Fergos Man U babies weren’t just kids. Seasoned hard heads in the right positions are always needed. The NRL is so physical that you need some maturity across the park to bring enthusiasm and experience together. I am not suggesting that DCE should be in front of Hugo either quite the opposite. I think you need experience and maturity up front in the NRL. But yes not a great example with Hansen.

As for Gus Crichton's second row position can we focus on filling the right edge first that still hasn't had anyone's name on it since Aubusson retired.

i thought Victor did well last year on the edge. Really tightened up our defense and created a bit more space in attack through the middle.

At some stage Trent must look in the mirror and try to see how Bellamy or Cleary work their team
still play to structure
Get the simple basics right, hold the ball, win the possession and territory battle through completions, and fix up the penalaties
most teams won’t be able to hold out against you
maybe robbo has been to nice and let the players just play

there must come a time when you realise being the most error riddled and penalised team this makes if farking hard to compete

Yes it’s only round 1 but these simple things don’t look like they will be fixed any time soon

I can only presume it was off field as he was our best prop and only on $200k and we still got a bargain at $500k
